I Challenge Myself (ICM) came into existence in September 2003 after its founder and president participated, as a non-cyclist, in a life changing 3-day 300 mile bicycling tour to raise funds for AIDS research. ICM's founder recognized the powerful impact such an experience could have on youth living in low-income communities, and realized that there – more... was no similar opportunity for young people. Since its program launch in February 2005, ICM has helped dozens of students ages 14 to 19 to increase their physical endurance by cycling an average of 10-16 hours each week in preparation for their first one-day 100-mile cycling ride. These same youth have reached over 600 students in grades 1 through 12 through health campaigns which have focused on HIV/AIDS prevention and healthy eating. More importantly, 80% of ICM youth report an increase in self-confidence and self esteem from participating in ICM^s programs, all have remained in high school and 100% of participating seniors graduated from high school and are attending college. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
