Do you work at IBM? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in?

Dear IBM...travel 100% for this job? Who wants to travel that much for ANY job? Spend the cash to station more people at your local offices. My husband is a computer professional and has turned down jobs with IBM because they expect 80+% travel. No one is willing to live their life for a company any more, especially when they'll be laid off anyway.

Hello All, For the last 5 years I have been working at IBM as a contractor. I wanna move and apply for jobs at IBM Australia. As a contractor am I eligible to apply for jobs since I am already working at IBM. I do not want to jeopardize my current work because I have interests in pursuing a job elsewhere but within IBM. Thanks and any response is appreciated.

don't be a consultant in ibm, I am a full time ibm employee, they treat full time like garbage, guess how they treat their contractor. If job description says long term contract........ it means you will get caned in 3 months top. They hire and fire contractor to adjust their quarterly earnings. Just use you imagination to think the rest.

I've extensive experience in internetworking, virtualization, and selling Knowledge Management solutions to CIOs in the Fortune 500. I recently moved to LA, and would like to see what opportunities there are at IBM (bulk of my time was at Microsoft), and am open to either consulting or enterprise sales. I don't have any personal contacts at IBM, so am open to suggestions? thanks -- Paul

Helllo, I want to join IBM but am scared of travel 80% or 100%. I want to be with my family when i come back home during weekdays. I was thinking of joining IBM with below thoughts: I will relocate for each project with family at least 1-2 years in beginning. Will keep minimum household stuff and move family along at my own cost. My wife and son(in middle school) are ok to move (and change schools) every 4-5 months. I know it will be aditional exp to my pocket but i am fine. Please advise: (1) About my above thoughts. Any other option i have to keep family tagged to me. (2) Once employed can i refuse short term projects say 2 months duration and say i need a project at least of 4 months. Any feedback from IBM employee or ex will be apprecited. Thanks.
