The IDS group employs a team of more than 450 highly trained professionals, and operates in more than 20 countries worldwide.

IDS’s North American subsidiary, IDS NA, offers a complete range of ground penetrating radar (GPR), borehole and interferometric radar products for use in mining, civil engineering, transport, geological and archaeological applications.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the management, installation and maintenance of the IBIS ground based synthetic aperture radar system. The IBIS is used to monitor ground movements in potentially unstable slopes to determine the risk of failure of that specific slope. The Application Engineer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the IBIS. This includes training customers, repairs of damaged parts, and remote customer care support. Proficient computer skills are mandatory and applied understanding of networking is preferred. Knowledge of geology and geological structure are a plus. The position requires 40-50% travel away from office. The Application Engineer is responsible for the planning and organization of their travel schedule.

EXPERIENCE: Field experience and knowledge of high tech instrumentation is required.

EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree Preferred
Certificate in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, and Geoscience/Geotechnical may be accepted with applicable experience

SKILLS: Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Ability to learn and understand INSAR principles and theories
  • Understand geologic principles and their application to landslides
  • Understand basic circuits
  • Knowledge of computer systems and networks
  • Ability to assemble, repair, diagnose and troubleshoot electromechanical systems
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in most weather conditions
  • Ability to travel at least 40-50% of the time with minimal notice

This position requires frequent travel across the country and North America and therefore a valid passport and driver’s license is mandatory.
