Retirement Plans Specialist (Current Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – December 30, 2015
If you seek a sales role with tons of autonomy, this is a fantastic place to be. They do the right thing, so from a sales perspective you don't need to be worried about having to push bloated investment solutions. You will be tasked and accountable for hitting goals so if that's not the environment you seek, look elsewhere.
Management is very supportive and the corporate culture is very family oriented. I've never felt so welcomed by higher level execs at corporate meetings before.
Compensation is very fair and I find the benefits to be better than average based on where I have been in the past.
Tons of autonomy, pay for play environment
In the field you may have a large territory requiring travel
Investor service Specialist- Service (Former Employee) – Washington, DC – November 23, 2015
The company itself offers a lot of potential as long as you do NOT begin in "investor services" ie the call center. It's a dead end in that department. You get trained in a whole lot of unmarketable skills that end the end you are left drained and pretty much your morale down the toilet. Turnover is unbelievable and management offfers no real encouragement to move on with any career. The problems seem to stem from a self absorbed barely leadership material director who does nothing but make employees feel like they're slaves and that their well being depends on her. Like a previous reviewer stated it's is a very toxic environment and after a few years your entire spirit can be killed. Nobody cares about their job and really when you are slowly going nowhere why should you . HR doesn't care either yet this is the face of the company.
After a couple yrs Pple simply just leave the dept for the sake of leaving. Not even with a plan. Awful department to work bottom line.
Unprofessional Micro management, poor training, overworked. Don't be fooled by titles here.
No weeknd hours
Employee disrespect, no advancement, nepotism, unprofessional

Client Solutions Associate II (Current Employee) – Washington, DC – June 18, 2015
I manage my own queue. Very supportive for advance certification and education. Management is flexible. My co-worker are typical. You'll find the same personalities anywhere you go. Hardest part of my day is learning new information on issues that don't happen frequently. I enjoy my management and benefits. Great opportunities for career advancement.
Specialist (Former Employee) – Washington, DC – June 4, 2014
Great benefits but to much politics... There is no work life balance. Majority of management truly lack knowledge in most areas and it shows... The whole place including HR are filled with aggressive personalities that are hard to work with. If you arent in the right click or butt kiss its hard to get far with this company..Its simply not worth the hassles.
Sr. Risk Manager and Treasury Analyst (Current Employee) – Washington, DC – April 25, 2013
ICMA-RC is the most diverse company I have ever worked for, from management to employees. Employees are valued, rewarded and treated fairly. The pay is very good relative to Baltimore, but adequate for DC and N. VA. Continuing education is highly encouraged. Co-workers are friendly and hard working for the most part. There seems to be very limited office politics or back stabbing. The hardest part of the job is the commute from Baltimore, but ICMA-RC has an initiative to encourage working from home where possible. ICMA-RC provides free (good) coffee, breaks, bonuses 2x per year. Annual merit increases are minimal, but they do give them annually. The company is very stable and growing.
Senior Project Manager (Current Employee) – Washington, DC – March 25, 2013
ICMA-RC is one of those companies that will surprise people. We are a not-for-profit in the financial services industry specializing in the retirement services industry. We build retirement security for over 1 million public sector employees across the United State with over $44 Billion...yes, billion in assets. The company is starting to really come into a realm of business that could extend its steady growth model. Like a lot of business within this industry there are very focused and smart individuals with a lot of industry knowledge.
employees are tenured and secured, the company has a very nice benefits package.
need with narrowly focus decision making, need to ramp up its technology.
