The school was a great place to work. It took inner city kids with broken homes and learning issues and gave them the tools to make it the world.
Assistant Discipline Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCMarch 22, 2016
I learned that it take a person with a big heart and compassion to kids and there family with everyday issues. There is no greater feeling in a persons heart but to see a student walk across that stage and become a productive citizen.
Pros
Watching the kids grow up and become better citizens
Cons
Watching the kids graduate and leave and off to school or military

Information Technology Instructor (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCMarch 30, 2015
IDEA Public Charter & Electronics Academy has a dangerous mix of military children, last chance children, and staff that aren't concerned with the welfare of the children. Showing that you love and care for inner city children is shunned by co-workers.

Military personnel are told that their children will receive the best education, yet most are bullied by 2nd chance children whom have entered the juvenile criminal system. Never would I send my children there. Horrible place.
Pros
An opportunity to work with 2nd chance children
Cons
Co Workers were more interested in money and not the welfare of the children.

Dir. Of School Support Services (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCJuly 8, 2013
IDEA Public Charter School was a great place to work. The former leadership provided good mentoring of its staff. The environment was one of family amongst students, staff, and families.

Work as A+ ,Network+ instructor and IT Support (Current Employee) –  N.E. Washington DCJune 25, 2012
IDEA Public Charter School has a lot of possibilities, but until they get the right people in charge it will never be what it can be. The school lacks in discipline and the teachers that they have follows the school rules less than the students.
The IT part of the school is very good, but counseling does not follow the recommandation of the IT teachers as to which students should take which IT class. The counselor does not know anything about the IT classes nor what the students need to know to be in them, but makes decisions based on what I do not know.
Pros
work with at risk kids
Cons
bad leadership

It is amazing place to start your career in education. There are plenty of wonderful people who work there, and plenty of opportunity to receive professional development.
