Restaurant Controller - Multi - Location Restaurant Industry
The ideal candidate will assist the Chief Financial Officer in the supervision of the finance and administration function for a middle market Company with gross revenue in excess of $30 million and 500 employees. This person will be the custodian of the books and records of the Company and is part of the management team. This individual supervises and manages the accounting function that includes but is not limited the day to day accounting, bank reconciliations, timely preparation of the financial statements, maintaining vendor relations, supervising accounts payable, timely submission of permits and licenses. In addition to, filing of sales tax and personal property taxes returns.
Duties and Responsibilities
This individual is charged with timely closing of the books and records of the company and the generation of financial reporting for 15+ companies. Must understand management information systems and use of Excel spreadsheets and Word. Experience with the Compeat restaurant operating accounting system a plus. Working knowledge of GAAP accounting for a multi-company holding company that includes exchanges. Assure compliance with contractual agreements. Must have experience in working with landlords and their F&A functions. Train and supervise the finance and administration staff. Assure implementation and maintenance of proper internal controls in order to generate timely financial statements. Must have an understanding of the purchasing function and controls for restaurant companies with multiple locations. Working knowledge of general liability, worker's compensation, and builder’s risk and umbrella coverage. Working knowledge of State Sales Tax laws. Responsible for the timely submission of personal property taxes and various state licenses and permits. Responsible for the maintenance of liquor and the various municipality licenses. Assist with the preparation of forecasts and budgets with input from by senior management. General understanding of banking laws. Prepare cost benefits analysis for various company activities. Must have a working knowledge of construction management and accounting.
Education and Experience
CPA designation required
Masters degree in Accounting or Finance a plus
Experience in restaurant industry required
5 years experience in a senior role
Strong restaurant experience
Excellent verbal and written skills
Analytical Skills a must
