Laborer (Current Employee), Chicago, ILDecember 12, 2013
Pros: you learn things that can't be shipped overseas and you can help people who are in need
Cons: work is not always steady, sometimes it's a hassle getting paid what you want, and being taken advantage of
As a laborer I have learned how to work well with people from every culture and background. On a typical job I would ask to do most of the work if I have seen it done at least a few times. However, if I was on a job and I haven't seen it done, then, I would watch and make sure that the other guy had what he needed to do the job. I often ask many questions – more... until I get the hang of it. The best part of being a laborer is when I do most of the technical work myself. – less

Independent Recruiter (Former Employee), Tampa, FLNovember 5, 2013
Pros: great bonuses.
Cons: not much family time.
Extremely hectic but in a good way, speaking to many potential clients. I had no co-workers while doing this job. The hardest part was making my placements and splits. The most enjoyable would be the people I was able to meet along the way.

Driver (Former Employee), Grants Pass, ORMay 28, 2013
Pros: high pay and compensation
Cons: high responsibility of someone.
It only took me 5 minutes to drive my friend from house to store when I was scheduled. I learned that dependability is very important in keeping employers happy. The elderly gentleman whom I drove preferred me over his neighbors and the other friends that his children recommended when they were away on trips. This wasn't a very demanding job, I got – more... to do a little browsing while at wal-mart. I like to drive. – less

LPN home health (Current Employee), Zanesville, OH, Dover ohioOctober 9, 2012
Pros: one on one with the clients
Cons: when things go crazy with breathing can b nonstop for 12 hrs at a time
arrive get report. then get the kids playing and singing. keep there attention on one task at a time.implement handoverhand play time and hand eye coordination, focus and fun. make story time fun and exciting. i have learned that no matter how bad things seem and people saying you cant do it put ur mind to it and u can do it. I tell my little clients – more... all you gotta do is try and u can do anything. hardest part is when they r sick and they want to play but cant. most enjoyable part is see them do things they couldnt do before. and when they want to give hugs there way of thanking me and the big smiles on there faces as well as parents faces. – less

Private Care Giver (Former Employee), Greenwood, MSSeptember 1, 2012
Pros: i usually eat with my patient.
Cons: short breaks if the patient is restless
A typical day at work on a sitting job is interesting and exciting because you don't feel pressured to meet production. Taking care of people is a motherly skill for me and I love to help people because this is what I was born to do. I enjoy comforting those who are hurting and can't do for themselves. I learned that we as people never know when someone – more... will have to administer care for us and we should always be kind and polite to disabled people, even on their bad days. Management comes easy when you are not on an assembly line with a boss standing over you. The hardest part about this job is that sometimes the patient expires and your heart is grieved because women bond with those we have to take care of. I'ts like loosing a family member. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you can make a sick or disabled individual laugh. I am a happy woman and I enjoy making others laugh and feel more confident in themselves. – less
