The Hospital supports orthopaedic research activity through its Institutional Review Board and encourages our medical staff towork with physicians in training such as Residents and Fellows. We occasionally receive money from companies that make implantable devices, to support thesalaries andexpenses of Residents and Fellows.IOH does not billpatients for theservices of Residents and Fellows. In addition, there aresurgeonson our staff who are involved in the development and design of many of theorthopaedic products and devices that are on the current market. Thosephysician inventors often receive royalties or other compensation for their product developmentwork, with important exceptions.
