IAC invites young professionals and future leaders to volunteer for the L21 (Leadership in the 21st Century) Board and help support the work of the Center by increasing awareness about the Center, encouraging volunteer participation in the Center's initiatives, and raising funds through a variety of events and outreach activities compatible with the Center's mission. The L21 Board operates as the Center's associate board and directly supplements the efforts of the center's staff and board of directors.
Membership in the L21 board can serve as a vehicle for creating the next generation of leaders for the IAC. The L21 Board that was established in 2011 included a diverse group of young professionals including lawyers, technologists, hotel-industry and marketing professionals. The L21 Board organized and participated in a wide range of events to enlist the support of Chicago's young professional community. These events included networking events, service events, and fundraisers. Through these initiatives, L21 brought many new supporters to the Indo-American Center.
