Out of my experience, the job was not hard but, the human factor made it more difficult.
Security Guard (Former Employee), Chicago, IL – September 30, 2012
Pros: prior military experience gave me the confidence to work this job site alone.
Cons: police would respond slowly or not at all.
My shift was a 12 hour day. Young people in security positions do not have commitment for their job nor do they come on time. Management in times of dire need , may show up at the site 3-5 hour later. Co-workers work well until they quit (usually in a 2-6 week peroid). The hardest part of the job was heavy turnovers and consistent training of new hires. The most enjoyable part was to be releaved on time after a twelve hour shift, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
