InterOcean Systems Inc is a leader in developing and manufacturing innovative oceanographic products for doing ocean research, monitoring and oil spill detection. We are located in San Diego and need a motivated, enthusiastic electrical engineer to become part of our dynamic engineer team.
The candidate should have a broad based electrical engineering background that is familiar with analog, digital and embedded designs, and be capable of developing the firmware necessary to unite the entire electronic system. The candidate must also be familiar with test equipment including logic analyzers, function generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc., and PC's, schematic capture, circuit simulators, and embedded development tools. In addition the candidate will need to manage small project teams to develop both standard products and custom projects.
Develop electronics for marine and electromechanical products and/or modify/improve/upgrade existing designs
Manage small engineering teams to develop standard products and custom projects.
Design of low frequency analog circuits and sub-assemblies, including op-amps, A2D’s D2A’s, filters, and various transducer drivers and receivers.
Design of digital circuits as it complements the analog design, including microprocessor embedded system design, serial and discrete I/O.
Develop the firmware necessary to fuse together the various electronics to control, measure, calculate and communicate to various peripherals and functions.
Generate circuit schematics for new products, and modification of existing products.
Work with package designers to develop product user interfaces and panel layouts
Provide board layout and packaging guidelines to other designers
Develop product documentation such as ECO’s, production test and calibration procedures and user manuals.
Perform hands on or work with technicians to debug prototypes and the ability to test designs to specification.
Develop test equipment in support of manufacturing
Manage transition from engineering to full scale production through the release of documentation and maintain or modify existing documentation.
Work with production to resolve manufacturing issues and perform sustaining engineering.
Work closely with other mechanical, electrical, and system engineers in the design process during large project development
Engage in multiple projects that are at various stages of design and development
Occasional travel to customer sites to help with product commissioning and training
Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct of our company
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 7-10 years of combined experience in analog, digital and embedded hardware design and firmware development, preferably in instrumentation
Have managed small project teams of five or less.
Knowledge of micro-volt-level circuit design and RLC filters is a plus.
Embedded C programming
