International Education Corporation's history dates to 1982 when United Electronics Institute was founded in Los Angeles County, California. In 1989 it became United Education Institute (UEI), so named to reflect the addition of a broader range of training programs in the career education field.
International Education Corporation (IEC), a holding company, was formed in 1996 to accommodate plans for growth through expansion of existing UEI programs in addition to the acquisition of new schools.
In 1996 IEC acquired the option to purchase Advanced Career Training (ACT), a career school business in operation since 1975; this acquisition was finalized in January 1998.
Today, IEC is the parent company of both UEI and ACT, with a total of ten schools nationwide.
UEI's first campus was established in Van Nuys, CA in October of 1983; since then, additional southern California sites have opened, including our main campus in Los Angeles (March, 1989) as well as campuses in Huntington Park (September, 1989), San Diego (October, 1990), Ontario (June, 1997), Chula Vista (August, 1999), San Bernardino (September, 1999), and El Monte (March 2005).
ACT's main campus is located in Atlanta, Georgia with branch campuses in Morrow, Georgia (Atlanta suburb) and Jacksonville, Florida; all campuses were in full operation when IEC acquired ACT in 1998.
UEI has eight campus locations:
