Job Summary

The Career Services Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs. The Career Services Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining employer contacts (relationships), arranging student internship assignments, presenting a series of classroom mini presentations, participating in new student orientation, conducting graduate employment follow-up, facilitating monthly Job Clubs internship seminars

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Constantly seeks and cultivates new job openings through site visits, networking, searching online and in publications, and any other available lead source, referral, etc.
  • Notifies and motivates students/graduates of job openings and suggests a plan of action to the graduate
  • Aggressively follows-up on all referrals, interviews and placements
  • Documents all placement activities in the appropriate places (To be expanded once we convert to EX from EMS)
  • May invite graduates back to school for additional pre-employment training and/or updating of skills, when necessary
  • Arranges job development visitations and completes appropriate forms
  • Accepts responsibility to create and maintain quality placements for graduates in all programs to meet established goals
  • Participates in new student orientation
  • Conducts a series of mini presentations
  • Assists students with resume development
  • Conduct resume writing and interview skills workshop
  • Lectures on professional dress, attitude, language and actions. Demonstrates professional principles at all times
  • Coordinates and reviews student mock interviews
  • Approves, confirms and assigns internship sites to each student
  • Develops new internship sites by building professional relationships within the medical community and obtaining affiliation agreements between the sites and ITU
  • Keeps accurate records of site locations and students’ internship hours (To be expanded once we are converted to EX)
  • Conducts weekly/monthly student internship seminars and reviews student assignments (if applicable)
  • Conducts Internship Site Survey upon completion of each student’s Internship assignment
  • Makes additional visits to externship/employer sites when necessary

Must meet accreditation minimum standard of placing 70 percent of graduates in training related jobs. (Domestic Students Only)

  • Maintains student and employer database
  • Compiles and keeps current job placement statistics on each graduate
  • Conducts 30/90/120 day follow-up on each class
  • Completes employment verification forms
  • Conducts graduate employer surveys
  • Maintains and documents all activity with job leads obtained

Job Responsibilities: (Student Services Coordinator)

  • Assist with the graduation ceremony by helping to find the venue, creating the program, and coordinating the staff to assure success of the event
  • Assist with New Student Orientations by ensuring consistency and adherence to standards of the company’s Inspire initiatives
  • Coordinate student appreciation days and co-curricular activities, ensuring they’re both relevant and well attended by the student population
  • Assist with student housing plan. Under the direction of DOSA, ITU would like to sublease furnished and unfurnished apartments to the students
  • Be in charge of Student Union (Student Council). President of the Student Union’s responsibilities include planning and running the weekly meetings, creating events, and increasing student participation in the program; and directly reporting to Director of Student Affairs
  • Start different clubs at ITU (With Bylaws).
  • Assist and coordinate academic advising and student support services for Ability to Benefit (ATB) students in conjunction with the DOE/DOSS
  • Assist the campus disability coordinator and ensure all disability requests are handled in compliance with ITU’s policies and ADA regulations
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs and services that assist students to re-enter, continue, and complete their academic programs
  • Analyze student statistics and summarize findings to the DOSA regarding student withdrawal patterns, such as identification of specific courses and faculty that have high attrition rates or other problematic/challenging areas
  • Attend and successfully complete all training for this position as offered by the DOSA recommendation
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of customer service or sales experience from jobs like outplacement, workforce development, placement, placement/recruiting, sales, public relations, business development, event planning, newspaper or telephone book advertising, marketing or other sales related positions
  • Computer skills including MS Office, Internet, e-mail
  • Interest in making sales calls and developing relationships and contacts in the community
  • Ability to talk to groups of students about professional growth and communications
  • Demonstrate professionalism in manner, dress and conduct as a representative of ITU and student mentor
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to achieve goals. We work to make our students successful and we measure that in our individual and team accomplishments
  • Bachelors degree
  • Preferred if incumbent has experience working in similar field at a college or university
