Work requires a high degree of concentration despite the tediousness.
NOC Operator (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – September 2, 2017
The nature of the work requires a great deal of concentration, even when there isn't a lot happening. The NOC environment can be tense as employees must spend the majority of their shift at their desk. This includes lunch breaks. As a result, the culture can be a bit insular. I wouldn't say that the company is a bad place to work for. Quite the opposite, they have a wide-range of amenities for employees to enjoy. I don't believe I was the best fit for their environment.
Comped lunches. Paid lunch breaks
Insular culture. Not able to leave campus during shift.
911 Telecommunicator (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – August 29, 2017
The pay is great. The workload is high. There are too many levels of managers. Complaints only lead to dead ends. The call center is not well funded. It's a 911 call center and they won't fix computer problems unless it directly profits the company. Private sector companies should have no business in 911 for that reason.
Chef meals daily. Great pay and benefits.
Bad management allowed to continue their bad practices.
The company culture was great until Intrado changed into WEST
Associate Data Collection Specialist (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – June 21, 2017
It is a great place to work for someone with the right fit. However, due to company re-structuring during the last year, a large number of employees were laid off and those who remained had a much larger workload. The amount of stress associated with the workload was more than what the pay compensated.
Project Coordinator/Project Manager (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – March 17, 2017
At one time the company was ran well. After the West takeover management got worse and the work environment became negative. The work can be fast paced and challenging to get items done within the time restraints
great people and building is great
compensation is low, upper level management have created low moral
Field installer / Contractor (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – January 17, 2017
Always traveling and leaving on a Sunday morning coming home on a Friday night after 3 weeks out. sometimes I did not have work for 4 weeks in a row, I got to meet my boss 1 year after I started and just to find out he never got any of my emails because I was given his name misspelled.
Now that its a west company its a bad place to work
Account Executive/Sales (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – October 20, 2016
When this company was not indebted to the stock market and worrying about paying out dividends it was a great place to work. Now the company culture is the worst its ever been and management is a bunch of lemmings scared of their own shadows. Morale is at an all time low. I would stay away from Intrado-West corporation!!!
Intrado Employee (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – May 3, 2016
Multi million (if not billion) dollar corporation, yet they cannot clearly define your role, and offer clear, concise training and documentation to back up some of the most ridiculous policies I've ever seen in a company.
The worst part? They provide 911 call taking equipment to the vast majority of metropolitan areas in the country. And its all supported using 56k dial up technology to save money and avoid difficult conversations with their customers. So lets compromise public safety in the name of budgeting!
They throw a lot of talented people vastly experienced in real world applications into a proprietary system and the only training that's offered to support people is installation training.Think of it this way; Its like if they developed a proprietary snow shovel that no one has ever seen before. And to train the support people on how to use this shovel...they show you how they make them.
Little to no transparency between departments. Which is fine, except these departments have to interface with each other to resolve issues. Kind of hard to know who to interface with on what when you have no idea what other departments do in the same company you work for.
Compensation is good, which makes no sense how a company who had a vast amount of absolute morons running the executive level of management can remain profitable. Yay for government subsidy contracts! Its not what you know, its who you know! And that's important for public safety!
Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere for employment. if you actually have integrity to make your workplace better for all thosemore... who work with you, forget West/Intrado. Taking actions to help streamline your job is seen as insubordination and you will be disciplined for "bad attitude".less
Associate Data Analyst/Data Analyst (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – April 5, 2016
I worked for Intrado before West corp purchased it. It was an amazing group of people dedicated to "work worth doing". The company looked after its people, we had a lot of opportunities to learn, grown and advance within the company. After Intrado was purchased by West corp things started to change. The atmosphere became focused on meeting financial commitments and not keeping quality employees. Management didn't seem to care what your resume looked like, they cared more about internal promotion within each department. So moving into a new department meant practically starting over.
Director of VoIP Operations (Former Employee) – Longmont, CO – October 8, 2015
While there are rewards for working there, it is very difficult to put up with them for long without a great sense of humor. Personal privacy is infringed upon constantly under the guise of "security". However, they are the 800lb gorilla in the emergency world, so it is hard to argue with them. Once in there, you usually have good job security although the internal politics are fierce.
Data NOC Technician (Former Employee) – Longmont, co – October 29, 2014
I can't believe that i was offered a job, accepted it and next day revoke the offer because i am only 2 years and few months in the state. What of other company that employed without 7 years of you being in the state. I was told to pass background check I most be 7 years In the state. I can't recommend anyone to the company. What a terrible experience with the company. If you are a permanent resident don't even waist your time.
