Working at Intuit

I had a phone interview with department manager to go over the position, the company and my background. Was told that they were very interested in me and that they would be getting back to me to schedule an in-person interview. Over 4 months have gone by and this interview has yet to take place. I had been in weekly contact with the hiring manager, who assured me that they were still very interested in me but due to departmental changes they had been waiting to bring people in. They tried to make something happen at the end of 2011 but kept having to push back. Then again in the early part of 2012, again, they had to push it back. The hiring manager was really good at getting back to emails to give me an update but it has now been over a month since I've had a return email. I assume that the position has been put on hold indefinitely. At this point, I feel like I've been strung along far too long. Over 4 months between initial interview and the next step is unheard of and could easily translate to being unprofessional and incompetent. I'm still interested in pursuing the position. However, I don't know what to think at this point because every time I do get in touch with them, I hear the same excuse. Either they have some real problems in this department or they aren't in a rush to fill the position and expect people to wait forever. I've read some great reviews about Intuit as a place of employment, but if I had to base my opinion of the company on my interview process, I would have a very low opinion. Hope they really are still interested in me and get their problems worked out because I'd really like to have the chance to finish the interview process. In the meantime, I'm moving on.

I hope this discussion helps prospective candidates and employees of Intuit to know what has been/ is going on in the upper echelons of Intuit's HR circle. I will get straight to point. " Intuits HR policy prevent any H1B Visa holder to apply for a GC in the EB2 category", even if you have a US masters degree and more than 5 Years of Experience. None of the Engg / QA / Sys admin positions will qualify for EB2 category. The only exception is a "staff software engineer" position. I dismissed it thinking that it is mendacious propaganda by dissatisfied employees. However, recently I got a call for an interview, I cleared the first round and was invited for an onsite interview. I wanted to clarify if this new immigration policy has any verity at all ? I emailed the HR contact ( don't want to name-call in a public forum ), and stated that I have heard about this change in policy and if that is correct would like to withdraw from the interview process, hence being respectful of the time of 5 Interviewers. Its been 2 months and I am yet to receive a clarification on that. This incident gave credence to the ludicrous policy adopted by the company, indeed it is true. Then news started dropping in from everywhere about new recruits being hoodwinked into believing that their GC will be processed in the EB2 category. The company recruiters have even gone to the extent of blatant lying, by purposefully refraining from discussing about this policy when talking to the recruits about their GC processing. No information is shared until explicitly asked. Recently, a recruiter extended an offer letter to a prospective hire with the assurance that GC will be filed in EB2 for a engg position. This person enquired about the company from employees and finally after learning about this policy, rejected the offer in time. Come out clean INTUIT !!!! Be Transparent, have the chutzpah to let prospective candidates know about this policy. Its there future you r messing with.

I have the opportunity to take a contract position at Intuit for which I'm frankly overqualified. However, I'm attracted to the company and culture and would hope to be hired permanently in a higher level position at the termination of the contract. In other words, I'd be looking at the contract position as a "foot in the door" at Intuit, assuming another position for which I'm qualified arises. I'd like to know Intuit's track record/policy for hiring contractors to permanent roles...Is this a good way to get into the company? What is the probability for being hired this way? This is a critical question for me, as I expect to receive an offer of permanent employment from another company and am weighing the option of "rolling the dice" with Intuit.

I will echo the other posts here and say I had a negative interview process at Intuit. I had a phone screen with the HR person, that went fine, a phone screen with the manager. That went fine as well, but he didn't ask me any technical questions which I believe would have set expectations of what they are looking for and save us all a bunch of time. I was lend a long for two weeks and then brought in for a in-person interview. The interview went fine, I knew I didn't pass the technical bar. Again back to the phone screen process. If they would have asked some technical questions then we would have both knew they where looking for someone with backend knowledge and I could have gone to the beach for a day. I never heard back from Intuit after the interview. I knew I didn't get the job as soon as I left. But it is common courtesy is you let the person know. It was a huge waste of time and might be a sign that I might not enjoy working for a company who DOESN'T care about people.

I want to buck the trend here and talk about an extremely positive interview process I had at Intuit in San Diego. I am a software engineer. The process started with me talking to an engineer during a phone screen. She was intelligent, professional, polite and made for some excellent conversations with me. She also asked smart questions and we had a great time chatting over the phone about various technologies. About a week later, I was summoned on site for a in-person interview. The first thing that struck me was the trouble to which they went to in order to make my life easier. Before the interview, i was given a detailed itinerary of my entire day there, together with detailed directions on how to get to the site. This professional and detail-oriented approach gave me the impression that Intuit values me and my experience. The interview process was painless and exciting. Engineers from the team took turns talking to me and I learned a lot by chatting with them. The technical questions that were asked focused on real-life scenarios and API usage rather than project-euler style toy problems. I was also treated to lunch in their excellent cafeteria. At the end of the day, I was given an offer. Although I had other great job offers from companies like Sony/Qualcomm, I accepted the Intuit job on the spot because of how impressed I was with the people that talked to me. If you are an engineer applying to Intuit, just make sure you know your stuff and you will thoroughly enjoy the interview process like I did.

Do you work at Intuit? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I am in my last semester at San Diego State University and my degree is in marketing. I have been searching for information about Intuit internships. I have only found a summer internship program, but no information about how to apply or whether you have internships during spring and fall semesters as well. Where might I go to find out more information about your internships, how to apply and do you support fall and spring Internships? Thanks, Mike

I recently got hired in tucson, az and will be starting in a couple of weeks. I'm also going back to college to obtain a degree in business- human resource management. Once I get a degree in 4 years, assuming I am still with intuit, would it be possible to apply for a recruiter position or do they not hire new grads for that? Basically, once I get the degree would it be possible to utilize it within the company or do I need to leave the company and gain H.R experience somewhere else and then reapply? (This is assuming there are available positions at that time)

I just recently passed the Enrolled Agent exam and am looking for more information about this position. What kind of hours are available? What is the ballpark pay? What can I do now that will put me in the best position to get hired next year? I plan on going back to school later this year so the remote "work at home" nature of this position would be ideal.
