In May 2007, inVentiv Health, a communications and outsourcing services firm specializing in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, acquired the company. Addison Whitney was subsequently integrated into inVentiv's communications division as a wholly owned subsidiary.
Addison Whitney was founded in 1991 by businessman Bill Smith. No one named Addison or Whitney was involved; Smith just wanted to come up with a corporate name that sounded like that of an old-line, established firm. – less
