iPass is a decent place to land in Silicon Valley. If you are looking to start your career in San Francisco Area, or otherwise, this is a good place to start. The company is run by their investors and in there is pressure to perform. People wear a lot of hats, and the amount of tasking is high, so be ready to assist when asked. The product is going through a transition phase, and the move to target a different kind of customer is tough.
The company moves fast, and being a public organization, their performance is available for anyone to view. It is hard to move up in the organization, and the best positions are promote from within or given to those in the executives' extended network. Many staff and managers brought on under the existing CEO's tenure have worked him or his reports in previous organizations.
Teams are cohesive and there is a good lighthearted environment in the office. Also, the work/life balance is very fair. There are better places in the bay area tech industry to work, in terms of career trajectory, benefits and pay. iPass is not the worst option however.
