Intern, New York, NY - April 24, 2012
Ish Entertainment is a highly professional and productive production studio. My main purpose as an intern was to serve as an extra hand on editing and pitching projects. Every day had something different planned, I would help the upper management on individual projects, to help speed up the output. Some days I would deliver packages to and from firms that sell raw film, as well as pick up furniture and redesign the office space. At the time, I was an eleventh grader, however I was easily able to keep up with other interns who were already well into college. The biggest upside to their organization is the support coming from co-workers and upper management. Every task I was assigned to, was challenging at first, but with the support of the department heads and my closest colleague, the receptionist, I was able to face the challenges head on, and complete them efficiently. I believe the reason why I was so productive in the time I spent there, is because I came in with an open mind, and had the outlook of absorbing as much information about business fundamentals as possible. The most difficult and meticulous part of the job was personally editing raw film, all while writing down the characters dialogue word for word. In the end however, after the endless amount of logged hours I spent editing raw footage; I came to the sudden realization that my mental strength could be pushed beyond what my body was telling me was the limit. Since my time at Ish Entertainment, I have always tried to maintain the attitude to continuously push my limits when it comes to facing adversity. The great thing about learning this lesson about myself, is that this "next level" of mental toughness can be applied to a multitude of subjects in my life: sports, school and in the workplace.
