I loved my job at Island Air Service! My typical day at work was going to my office down at Trident Basin and working out our daily flights as well as selling flights to potential customers. I worked with a couple of pilots and a cargo crew to meet our goals.
I learned a lot at Island Air. I am originally from Utah and so I came into a situation that I had never been in before, so not only was it culture shock, but I was starting from ground zero. I learned about the system they used at Island Air, I learned about Kodiak Island itself, and I learned about what, and how we sell our flights. I learned about being the agent that sells flights and how to make a sell. I learned how to coordinate the flights and accomplish the goals.
I loved working with our manager. She is a dynamic person and felt like I could work with her through my concerns and I also felt like she helped me have success in my job!
I loved working with the other employees! I enjoyed the pilots and the cargo crew. I felt like as time went on that we were able to learn how to work together really efficiently. This part was always a work in progress, but we did it.
I think the hardest part of the job, is when we get backed up and we are working long days in the summer. It does get stressful working out how to move your clients in the most efficient and safe way.
I loved the problem solving, and the day in day out part of the job. I loved working with the clients we had and really making things work. I also loved working with the team I worked with.
