Position Description: Super Storm Sandy has left many Long Islanders devastated. This reality has brought many humans service agencies together to fulfill the unmet needs of the populations affected by the Hurricanes. This Manager position overseas the work directly related to this hurricane Sandy transitional feeding program effort in its work with agencies serving this population. This Hurricane Sandy Transitional Feeding Program Manager reports to the Vice President of Programs & Agency Relations. Candidate must have excellent organizational skills, communicate well verbally and written. The Candidate must be energetic and driven with a strong grasp of time management. Knowledge of Microsoft office is a must. The Program Manager must be able to respond to requests for departmental information and reports as well as participating in program strategy and development. He/she must have a reliable vehicle for travel and possess basic geographical knowledge of Long Island. Have the ability to be self directed and to work both independently and as an effective team member. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish helpful.
This position is funded through a restricted grant for an approximate 12 week period but can be extended.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

o Communicated directly with both Suffolk and Nassau’s office Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and other legislative entities regarding potential and ongoing community disaster recovery sites
o Work closely with Agency Relations team on Island Harvest Member Agency disaster sites to provide all appropriate documentation and processes
o Reviews all agreements and reports of hurrincane Sandy transitional feeding sites
o Assists in linking recovery sites with other sites and additional referral resources
o Communicates all changes or suggestions with VP of Programs and Agency Relations
o Meet with disaster recovery site assessors daily to determine successes and challenges of current and potential sites as well as establish next steps
o Develop process to ensure communication of needs/requests of disaster recovery sites directly with hurricane sandy transitional feeding site Operations Manager
o Work with sites assessors to ensure the needs of sites are met
o Participate in Hurricane Sandy teams and calls
o Ensure all site changes, contact information, evaluations, etc are documented
o Update database with current agency information
o Work with colleagues in Programs and Agency Relations to provide member agencies support in areas of education, outreach, advocacy and benefits programs

Other Duties:
o Work with other staff on special projects and special events, as needed
o Staff is responsible for their own correspondence, filing, mailing, and other office duties
o Staff is responsible for answering their own telephone, as well as the general incoming call, as needed
o Staff is responsible for answering general information questions about Island Harvest and/or directly inquiries to proper area.
o Some lifting is required; some evening and weekend hours are required
o Additional duties will be assigned, as needed.
