...with a basic philosophy – serve great, fresh food with friendly service in a fun atmosphere. When we opened it was an instant hit. Actually we ran out of food that first night at our West Los Angeles location. Since that first night, we’ve been expanding. You can now find more than 50 Islands Restaurants throughout Southern California and Arizona, and more recently in places like Summerlin, NV and Cupertino, CA.
It all starts with our people. We hire only the hardest working and most ambitious to serve under the Islands banner. Our commitment to you is to make your career goals a reality. In short, we are looking for people with a passion for the restaurant industry and dedication to providing outstanding guest service.
They are the ambassadors of the The Islands experience! This beach lifestyle provides an energetic, social and fun working environment that invites connection. Our team members work hard, and get rewarded for it too! Our commitment to quality food and ingredients enables us to provide the best burgers, fries, salads, and tacos you have ever eaten (minus the sand).

When Islands founder Tony DeGrazier stepped off the beaches of Oahu after a day of surfing with his Navy buddies in the early 60s, he did what came naturally to him. He went searching for a juicy burger, a hot basket of fries & a cold drink. Twenty years later, in 1982, it was that sense of place & satisfaction he was trying to recreate when he took a little chunk of the islands & plopped it down right in the mainland of Southern California.
Today, Islands still is true to Tony’s original experience & his original vision. And though our menu has grown to include salads, soups & soft tacos, we still adhere to the basic philosophy that fresh food, friendly service & a laid back atmosphere is the perfect end to a hard day of work or play. We hope you taste it in every bite. And we hope that whether you’re a hungry surfer or busy salesperson, you walk into Islands & say to yourself, like Tony did those many years ago, “Ahh...this is the place I want to be.” – less
