Good Place for Retirement
Associate Market Analyst (Current Employee), Holyoke, MAJuly 6, 2014
Pros: good pay, vacation plans
Cons: no growth space.
ISO has no difference from other utility companies. Safe job, good life/work balance, but lack of innovation. Management is procedure driven, keeping record complete does not exclude the mistake from happening. Since it is non-profit company, the advancement is not determined by the performance but a lot of other factors.

Disturbing at best...
Analyst (Former Employee), HolyokeApril 2, 2014
Pros: benefits, pay
Cons: everything else
This company fosters an attitude of "getting the other guy so you can look good" No team environment. It is a fear based environment and people walk around in fear as you just don't know what will happen from one day to the next. The management consists of analysts who have had no training. As a result they provide no training.
The people they're managing (loosely used) have more knowledge and experience than they do. They promote these people for lack of internal candidates which makes upper management look better for having the most "Managers" under them. Hence the title "manager" for an analyst.

Senior management is hands off therefore whatever is done to workers is done. There is no protection for the employee.
Workers stay in their cubicles and do not speak to one another (fear based) environment. This is systemic and begins with senior management. The money and benefits is the only thing keeping people there. They are consistently terminating people "at will" for their own agendas. People with many years and at an age which would seem impossible to retain employment.
Senior management is far overpaid as anyone who checks this out will see. We, taxpayers, are paying outrageous salaries to people who do very little work.
This non-profit agency needs to be shut down. There is no value added by having an RTO when utilities would be able to manage as they have prior to deregulated markets.
This company sucks to work for. There are people waiting to be vested and are leaving the next day. The date is programmed into their phones. You can see how the environment is...This is spoken from a 15 year employee.

ISO Management is OVERPAID and under worked. It's a big joke in the electric industry. They are not even necessary and it's a big burden on ratepayers for overpaid underworked employees. This place SUCKS as does management.

Not a friendly company to new employees
accounting (Former Employee), holyoke, maMarch 12, 2014
Pros: onsite cafeteria and nice grounds
Cons: unfriendly, management was horrible, you could not please them no matter how how you tried
I worked as a temp for 3+ months and I found the employees were not very friendly, treated "temps" as outsiders to the extent of excluding them in any extra activities the company offered. Be prepared if you are temping to be just that, and never considered a REAL employee. The management was stiff, unwilling to assist in proper training procedures, and had very high expectations of what experience & knowledge you should have, despite the job requirements.

food and fun
Grill cook and dishwasher (Former Employee), Holyoke, MAApril 2, 2013
Pros: being able to cook
Cons: having a day off
I loved this job because it was open for me to move up. Started out as a dishwasher and then moved to a grill cook. The management seen the best in me and gave me the chance. The hardest part was to adjust and once i did it became easy.
