Ivy Academia is a K-12 charter school designed to address the critical need for innovative educational alternatives for students in the Los Angeles community. It is the goal of Ivy Academia to provide students with a rigorous standards-based program while engaging them in community studies and entrepreneurial education. The culture of the school works – more... to create self-motivated, competent, life-long learners.
Our school’s aim is to educate individuals for the 21st century by enabling our students to think critically, be effective speakers, team players, be productive by prioritizing, effectively using real-world tools and utilizing a higher order of thinking and reasoning. Our students will also understand and internalize the responsibilities of living in a diverse society and the impact of globalization by attending foreign language classes beginning in 1st grade. In addition, Ivy students will become fluent in technological literacy by attending computer classes where they will obtain knowledge of what technology is, how it works, what purposes it can serve, and how it can be used efficiently and effectively to achieve specific goals in our ever-changing society. Our students will also develop in music and art appreciation classes designed to build self confidence.
Ivy follows National Entrepreneurial Standards as well as California State Content Standards.
Ivy Academia is often referred to as a college-prep school. Our standards and expectations are high, as our test scores have been for the past two years. We belong to the National Junior Honor Society, theCalifornia Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and California Scholarship Federation (CSF). Our school has been nominated for the Distinguished School Award. We recognize our outstanding students with memberships in prestigious organizations such as Honor Rolls, the Wall of Fame, the University of California Talent Search and with the Night of Stars at the year’s end, where students are honored for their academics, leadership and service.
At the same time, we have a strong resource program, an After-School Homework Club, an After-School Math Club, Academic Intervention, Saturday School, and tutoring can be arranged if necessary.

How many students do you serve?
For the 2008-2009 school year, we expect to serve nearly 1,000 students across all grade levels (pre-K, kindergarten, grades 1-10).
Do you offer grades 11 and 12?
Ivy Academia has been growing to support an additional grade level at the top every year. For this past school year (2007-08), we served up to grade 9. Grade 10 has been added for the 2008-09 school year. We will be adding a grade 11 class in the fall of 2009, and finally, a grade 12 class in the fall of 2010. Students who are in the highest level grade currently (in the fall of 2008, grade 10) will continue to be the top grade level until they graduate. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
