We are seeking an entry-level Relief Sales Representative for the J&B Group Retail Sales team. The purpose of the position is to provide relief coverage for Inside Sales Representatives when they are absent due to vacation or illness. The Relief Sales Representative is responsible for developing and maintaining successful partnerships with accounts to retain and grow J&B’s primary and secondary businesses. This position requires occasional evening and/or weekend work. All of this while respecting associates, customers, consumers and the communities that J&B serves. Specific accountabilities include:
Cover Sales Calls: Fill in for the regular sales representatives when they are unavailable. Complete customer calls, provide price quotes and delivery dates, and enter orders. Ensure correct and timely orders through accurate data entry. Develop positive relationships with customers by utilizing excellent communication skills and a high degree of customer business knowledge. Provide immediate attention to customer needs and concerns. Proactively participate in promotions and the selling of “push” products. Partner with category managers to ensure product mix, inventories and pricing structures are competitive and meet customer and market demands.
Create Retail Marketing Materials: Creating the weekly special sheet, monthly or seasonal promotional sheet, or informational sell sheets. Sheets are sent directly to customers or used internally in order to increase sales volume on certain items.
Running Reports: Track sales by product, product line, customer, customer group, sales rep or sales group and track how products perform on sales flyers or how sales representatives perform during promotions in order to support the sales team by identifying additional sales potential. Also includes updating pricing information.
Deliveries: If a customer needs product before the next available ship date.
External Assistance: Helping a customer with a sale, giving a demo of a product at a retail location, or working a booth at a food show.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to make decisions regarding pricing and have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Qualifications include:
- Four year Bachelor’s Degree or two year Associate’s Degree in Business and Sales preferred.
- Three years protein/meat sales experience or general sales experience preferred
- Meat cutting experience strongly preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred
