Interesting Products and Projects
Project Engineer - Vehicle Operations (Current Employee), Gaydon, ENGMay 27, 2014
Pros: great cars, lots of new products in development, growing fast
Cons: a bit old fashioned "union" mentality
Generally enjoy it, I get to test vehicles and manage projects. My managers are great individuals although the company has lots of people that have been the for centuries and are not too keen on trying new things or be proactive.

Productive workplace
Quality Inspector (Former Employee), Solihull, ENGMay 4, 2014
Pros: 3 breaks
Cons: vacancy was through an agency
Working at Land rover was good for me because it was active and allways doing something.I learned how to correctly distinguish a bad part from a good part even if the damage was barely visable,I also learned how to correctly rework any faulty parts in order to make the parts correct. The job wasnt hard at all we had three breaks each shift and it helped – more... having a good team around me. – less

Excellent Work place Nice People
Production Operative (Current Employee), Solihull, ENGApril 20, 2014
Pros: good people good job and excellent money
Cons: 3 shift pattern
During my day at work I am involved in fitting specific car parts onto . vehicles and also have to check the quality to make sure it is up to standard. I have learned a lot while at Landrover such as learning how cars are built. The design process and how to analyse parts of the car or even the workplace for improvement. My co-workers are excellent – more... people to work with and we always have a little laugh and joke as long as it does not interfere with our work and the jobs get done. I reckon the hardest part of my job is keeping in sync and timing as the cars move on a conveyor belt so you always have to be quick doing the job and all the checks. Mostly I enjoy coming to work as i am always learning new jobs as well as the technical details to the many cars we produce. I also like meeting new people and having work events outside of work. – less

Professional workplace
Administration Assistant (Former Employee), Birmingham, ENGMarch 31, 2014
Pros: secretarial experience in working in a busy environment
Cons: the ratio of women to men was very low
My typical day at work was diary management, checking that there was enough stock in. I would answer the telephone and answer any queries. General office work which could include sending e-mails, typing documents, taking minutes and despatching post.

I did a two year college course at Solihull and achieved many different qualifications in administration. – more... The team of people that I worked with were very professional and were always very approachable.

My co-workers were friendly and as we were a large team if we needed any help we were there to help one another.

The hardest part was arranging flight travel for many people at various times

The most enjoyable part was working with different people of all ages. – less

Challenging and rewarding environment
FINANCE ANALYST (Current Employee), Solihull, ENGFebruary 18, 2014
Pros: free vehicles for the weekend with a full tank of fuel!
This role has created a fantastic foundation for my career. It has been a challenging experience working within Manufacturing Finance, but extremely rewarding. Everyday is different at JLR, there is always something going on and I'm always surrounded by amazing cars. The hardest part of my job is liaising with Operations and adapting to the Manufacturing – more... culture. It is very different to a corporate environment. – less

nice colleagues, bad management
Advanced Apprentice (Former Employee), GaydonFebruary 12, 2014
Pros: the range of jobs
Cons: the management
I was a fitter at Jaguar Land Rover in NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness). This involved making cars quitter or louder depending on the job at hand. I worked on making, designing and fitting exhaust systems. Fitting of any parts needed, ranging from tow bars to gearboxes and engines. I stripped down cars for tear down, taking them back to a bare shell. – more... My day to day work was different everyday. I also did welding, milling and a bit of fitting. This was a huge learning curve for me and I have taken this experience forward with me. I have recently repaired my own car using the knowledge I was taught from the company.
Management was poor and it was not clear as to what job I should be working on. Although the colleagues that I worked with were very friendly and always helped me.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to see what I had made or designed in working order. I was also involved in testing, this involved using computers linked into the cars while I drove them around the testing track, this was very enjoyable driving prototype cars. – less

Excellent employer but no chance of getting a permanent contract - only employed on contractor basis
Credit Risk Administrator (Former Employee), CoventryJanuary 2, 2014
Pros: pleasant office surroundings
Cons: queuing on hard shoulder of m40 for up to 40 minutes a day to get in
I have enjoyed working at Jaguar Land Rover although I commenced my employment 2 years 4 months ago at Gaydon Warwickshire on the understanding the job was imminently moving to Coventry - it still has not. This has meant a 50 mile round trip on a daily basis which I have not enjoyed.
The company is expanding rapidly but is not interested in taking on – more... permanent staff - the majority employed are contractors - some for many years. – less

Brand Thriller Job
Delivery Executive (Former Employee), Gurgaon, HRDecember 20, 2013
I was never a english company follower in automotive end, but i got the opportunity why not give it a shot which was good. I got to know the working environment, got to learn how to handle colleagues and even customers, learn't proper time management and the best part i got to know all the about each and every car deep inside which kept me going with – more... a happy smile and excitement.
They caught me being the best in my work, which made extra work to be piled upon, which i hated but did complete.
They then promoted form delivery executive to training executive.
Typical day : get the cars cleaned, send stock update, what all cars are going, get every documents ready, meet the customers, get it over with before closing time.
Management : they were fine, I would say i'm a good human being so no one came onto me hard way.
Co-workers : Smart, knew how to work things on others, few became friends and still are.
Hardest Part : Old working colleagues as in worked longer should be shown more respect even though you know you're better skilled, more knowledgable etc
Most Enjoyable : Allocated seats which is right next to your good colleagues, working and making jokes about it and time flies with work complete at the end of the day. – less

Awful
Production Operative (Former Employee), Birmingham, ENGDecember 19, 2013
Pros: good money
Cons: long hours. poor management. short breaks.
Working here is like being in prison. The management talk to and treat workers like they are scumbags. They make you feel so small, you have to switch jobs. But don't be fooled they are all like it. It's not worth the pay.

The shifts are all over the place and they only give you a mere 10 minute breaks. It's got to be illegal.
