I learnt lot of excel functions and more about the construction industry. The people team up nicely and it's a fun place to work. I learned a lot from this work place.

Flat company but worth it.
Ambassador Assistant Manager (Current Employee) –  MinnesotaJuly 4, 2017
James hardie is an amazing company, if you can get a job. It is known for being extremely flat. This means you have more than one persons responsibilities. However, if you can handle it the benefits are unmatched. You might also have a hard time advancing in a reasonable amount of time depending on what branch you are under.

FORKLIFT OPERATOR/QUALITY INSPECTOR (Former Employee) –  Peru, ILJune 29, 2017
Good company. Just not focused on your life over work/production. Could use more people so most people dont have to work 40 hours of overtime just to get the job done.

Shipping and Receiving (Former Employee) –  Peru, ILJune 17, 2017
James Hardie is a very stressful environment, if you're not in the "in" group you will not advance, despite work ethic. Management pushes blame off on everyone else and will not accept honest criticism or different ideas that do not come from one of them. But if you need a paycheck, have thick skin and don't mind being demoralized on a daily bases, then this company can fit the bill.
Pros
Insurance is fair, free lunches once a week and free bottled water while at work
Cons
narrow minded management, very few advancement opportunities

Good company with poor management
Accounts Payable (Former Employee) –  Mission Viejo, CAJune 15, 2017
Good Company overall but a lot of work that needs to be done. Good benefits, free lunch Fridays, gym are some of the good things. Very poor management in the AP Department. Huge turnover and people don't seem to last long. Management seems to be the only one laughing and having a good time at work. They can't seem to keep anyone over 5 years, except for the management. Very poor training, if at all. Ways to do things seem to change every month. They keep piling on the duties until you can't take it anymore and give up. Then they degrade you.

Engineering Intern (Former Employee) –  Waxahachie, TXJune 15, 2017
JHBP has a very competitive benefits and pay. The work-life balance could use some tweaking. Rotate between two weeks dayshift and two weeks nightshift.

Fast paced. Minimal management oversight. Creativity and improvement is embraced. Nice bonus package. Enjoyed my work as an engineer. Free lunches on Fridays.

Pays good
Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Fontana, CAApril 22, 2017
Working at James Hardie is very unpredictable. They pay pretty good and the insurance is pretty good.
My experience there wasn't too well. I would say that not everybody there is a team player. People sit back and watch you sink and laugh about it rather than coming to your Aid and helping you to understand and do a better job. They use a phrase your brother's keeper. I don't think they understand what they're saying. They give little to no help in your success. If you're doing something wrong rather than come and say hey you're not supposed to do this. They'll run to the lead man or run to the management and point the finger at you and say this is what you're doing, but yet turn around and say that they're being their Brother's Keeper.
Pros
Free lunch on Friday
Cons
Short breaks, 12-hour shifts, They provide bottled water, but get mad if you have to go to the bathroom, a few times in a hot day, it doesn't matter to them

There is alot of driving involved at James Hardie. Your days start early 6AM and they end around 6PM. You are meeting with builders, contractors and production crews all day. It's a fun place to work but the driving does take its toll.
Pros
Great Team and company car
Cons
Driving for long periods of time.

12 hour days. Not a hard job but there are particles of dust and product floating around at all times. You will blow chunks of dirt and dust out of your nose when you come home.

cp2 (Former Employee) –  Peru, ILFebruary 28, 2017
Worked cp2... the line would break at least 3 times a night...they throw away as much as the sell. They don't care to fix it so you spend most nights pushing a broom. The workers are rude. My co workers did not even bother trying to teach or help me learn how to do the job the only guy who helped was another temp and he left. Stay away
Pros
free food on Tuesday and Thursday's
Cons
everything else

Tech Sales Inspector (Current Employee) –  Saint Paul, MNFebruary 21, 2017
James Hardie is a good company if you enjoy working in a fast paced, no nonsense environment. You're expected to work hard and meet goals without excuses. This company offers fantastic healthcare. Additionally, the company is ever growing and there are typically opportunities to move around from role to role; you can gain applicable experience in several roles in a short amount of time if you work for it.
