OFFICIAL TITLE: VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS & SERVICES DIRECTOR

SHORT TITLE: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

TYPE: VOLUNTEER (But there are some perks and, upon request, Janus will work with your employer or organization to certify your volunteer hours.)

TIME COMMITMENT: PART-TIME

DEADLINE TO APPLY: 08/30/2013

DESCRIPTION: This is a part-time, unpaid volunteer position. The Volunteer Coordinator is primarily responsible for hiring, training and supervising of all Janus volunteers. The person who assumes this position will work directly under a designated Executive Officer and must submit a monthly progress report. The ideal candidate should live in Arkansas, preferably the Central Arkansas - Pulaski County area, and must possess the experience and qualifications listed below.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designate volunteer positions based on the organization's needs
  • Create ads for open volunteer positions
  • Recruit new volunteers
  • Assess organizational needs and capacity for volunteers
  • Screen (interviews, required background checks, etc.) and match volunteers to organizational needs and opportunities
  • Assist with the creation of volunteer program materials (e.g., volunteer orientation handbook, volunteer agreements, timesheets, etc)
  • Coordinate training and orientation for volunteers
  • Schedule and supervise volunteers
  • Acknowledge and reward deserving volunteers
  • Bi-annual evaluation of volunteer program
  • Submit monthly progress report
  • Attend organizational meetings

OPTIONAL, BUT HIGHLY VALUED SKILLS

  • Fundraising experience
  • Grant-writing experience
  • Bi or Multi-lingual
