IT Assistant (Former Employee) – New York, NY – February 2, 2018
My time at Japan society was great. My boss was helpful, knowledgeable, and a good teacher. I have no complaints. From fixing friends and families devices, I was able to challenge my IT skills in the real world.
Some nice people, but overall poorly run and disunified
Gallery Administrator (temp) (Former Employee) – New York, NY – October 23, 2017
I only temped her for a couple of months and was happy within my particular department. However there were many interpersonal issues within some of the other departments, and the executive leadership did not seem to do much to unite all staff and make it feel like a unified working environment. Poor compensation, but apparently good benefits.
Security Guard (Former Employee) – New York, NY – September 30, 2017
Very friendly & supportive workplace for all types of qualified candidates. The motivation to keep working is always there by your coworkers. If help is needed your surroundings would be more than happy to do so.
Digital Media Design Intern (Current Employee) – New York, NY – August 2, 2017
I had the chance to work on many interesting projects in my time. As someone learning/practicing Japanese, it was great to incorporate it into my work and know there were reliable sources around to help verify and encourage it. The office culture is quiet and conducive to productivity.
Free museum access across NYC, free/discounted classes and events
Communications/Film Intern (Former Employee) – New York, NY – February 13, 2012
Having interned in the Communications and Film dept, Japan Society is an all-around center for learning and experiencing Japanese culture through art, film, dance, lectures and more. They continue to have excellent programming and I am always encouraged to come back.
