I worked at JB&R Part-time in bookkeeping. The management was friendly, but didn't know how to MANAGE. I couldn't come into work because a snow storm hit and I was threatened to be fired, yet the managers long time friend took off a week without any kind of notice and didn't even get a sit down. There weren't any lunch breaks, let alone a 15 minute break. I didn't have a set time to come in and didn't have a set time to leave. I would come in at around 1 pm and wouldn't leave until 10pm some days. On top of that, If I worked over 25 hours that week THEY DIDN'T COUNT! If I'm working my butt off to finish the work your other employees took their sweet slow time doing I should get paid for it!
It didn't even help that the HR was too scared to step up and say something about the poor management and favoritism. I went a step ahead to the HR and asked if I was allowed to call off if the storm over night was too bad (it was suppose to be a whiteout and several feet of snow. I was without a car and commuting from home by rapid station). I was told I could but then I was fired not too long after!
Everyone who wasn't "besties" with the manager would say they loved this job...everyone else who fell in between was miserable. The clique didn't' want to do their job the way they were suppose to and everyone around them suffered whether it was from the angry client phone calls, or the piles and piles of extra work. Rumors are also spread among the office if you were actually doing your job.
Please don't waste your time...I'm shocked they aren't out of business yet.
