Run from this company
Truck Driver (Current Employee), Pittsburg, TXOctober 1, 2014
Pros: you will go into debt, you will not make any money here
Cons: see above
I currently work here. The dispatchers play favorites and they give all the good loads to there pets.
The only thing dedicated about the job is that you are dedicated to Pilgrims Pride. JBS owns them and we pull there freight.
Don't be fooled by the .45 cpm because at 1800 miles it isn't worth it.
You constantly have to bfe for freight, as for home – more... time well it's out 10-14 days minimum with 2 days off.... Wait I mean 48hrs off
I've lasted 5 months I am actively seeking a new employer
Ins is really good that's the main reason why I am still here

Oh how can I forget the equipment sucks I have 2 breakdowns a week and 1 major breakdown a month. They don't have a real shop to get work done on the truck. So you spend your time going from dealer to dealer to dealer to dealer to dealer. – less

Bad for new drivers
CDL Driver (Former Employee), Hyrum UtahMarch 17, 2014
You can't make any money with these guys if you do not have 2-3 years of experience. They can barley run you 2200 miles in one week. You wait hours as deliveries and don't get detention pay for 4 hours.

Incompatence at its best
Driver (Former Employee), Greeley, COMarch 10, 2014
Pros: high milage pay for experienced drivers
Cons: incompetent office staff and management
JBS is constantly doing mass recruitment while they are doing mass layoffs so you never know if you will have a job month to month.
The operations staff and middle management are completely incompetant and constantly try to re-structure the company to make their job easier.
Average miles here are about 2000mi a week with 1700mi a common acurance and – more... can even be as low as 1000mi a week. The milage pay is good, top of the pay scale is .40 a mile but that is pretty irelavent with such low miles.
They have started putting nanny cams in the trucks watching the driver as well as the road and have no problem terminating you for the smallest infractions such as eating a snack while driving.
Overall, in my 12 years of driving a truck, I would call this the worst job I have ever had.
I could list a lot more negatives, but this should give you an idea. – less

Driver Beware!
Midwest Regional Driver (Current Employee), Green Bay, WI terminalFebruary 11, 2014
Pros: excellent mileage rate and benefits
Cons: poor miles, long waits at shippers & receivers
I am leaving after only three weeks with the company. Even though the mileage pay is great, it doesn't mean much if there are no miles to be had. I have had only one week where I achieved the 2200 miles, which the recruiter told me was average. However, the other two weeks I have only managed to get 1700 miles in each week in 7 days of driving. Numerous – more... long waits to be unloaded and loaded. It seems that dispatch cannot quite get the timing right.

I can't complain about the cost of benefits as they are quite good and definitely inexpensive compared to many companies. However, if one isn't making any miles, then there wouldn't be much left in a paycheck for paying for even inexpensive benefits. – less

Very poor company with no care for some employees
Company Driver (Former Employee), Greeley, COJanuary 13, 2014
Pros: very quick response to work inhibiting issues.
Cons: rare to see a friendly face.
Was overly difficult for me to receive any information from my supervisor that she did not already know. Most of my day was spent really waiting on others to unload my truck. Management kept me working so I always had something I needed to do. The hardest part of the job I had to work with was the constant trips I had to take to Chicago, and the some – more... what common ones to Detroit. Though all the bad parts of the job, I did enjoy the feeling of freedom of being on the road. – less

Good work enviroment, Good like new Semi Trucks
CDL Truck Driver (Former Employee), Greeley, COJanuary 6, 2014
Enjoyed driving for JBS. But in the last few years there they had some management changes and some new policies put into action that they didn't follow up good enough to make sure all employees where aware of changes.
I enjoyed working with the dispatchers and some of the other Truck Drivers.
Then after they installed Drive Cams in the Trucks, felt – more... Cams were being used to find a reason to get rid of some drivers. – less

Poor Management
Driver/Laborer (Former Employee), Greeley, CONovember 8, 2013
JBS was a good company, but with a lot of false promises. Miles were bad waiting periods for delivery and pick up were long. This company has a big turn around reputation. In my 30 months with this company I saw a lot of drivers come and go. When a company offers a $5000 bonus that's a red flag. This company had dispatchers that played favorites with – more... certain driver of their liking. – less

Team; EXCELLENT benefits; great people and sound business
Team (Current Employee), Greeley, coMarch 20, 2013
My husband and I signed on with JBS as a team and have loved every minute so far. We enjoyed the orientation and they take excellent care of you while you are in Greeley, CO. The load planners make sure that you are home when you need to be as close as possible. Everyone is intact with your projected time of availability for your next load. This is – more... a wonderful company that is dedicated to their employees for sure!! – less

Seemed flexible, but very underhanded
Billing Specialist (Former Employee), Greeley, CODecember 14, 2012
Pros: flexible with breaks
Cons: no real communication
I enjoyed the people I worked with very much, but it felt like there were too many behind the scenes whispers. This is the first job I ever had where I truly felt as though I was being phased out. The job itself was very simple even to the point of becoming mundane.

Great place to work, offered a lot of mile, drove a brand new truck
Class a driver (Former Employee), Greeley CoNovember 13, 2011
Pros: inconsistent home time, long layovers between loads.
Cons: great miles when i was rolling, drove brand new, top notch equipment t.
I was one of the original drivers that started this company and it was a great place to work. As we grew in size, we suffered growing pains that effected my pay. My checks was short hundreds of dollars and I was not being reimbursed for my over the road expenses such as lumpers and toll receipts.
