Security Officer, Green Bay, WI - February 21, 2016
A typical day at work for me is an 8-12 hour shift depending on the day. We work a rotating week 1, week 2 schedule. I work alone in a guard shack checking employees, contractors and visitors into the plant. There is always a lot of activity going on with people coming and going. I verify loads of meat leaving the plant to be delivered by checking codes and matching seals on trailers to make sure they are eligible to leave the plant. I've learned many different multitasking skills, and time management skills since I've started working here. The hardest part of my job is organizing other tasks that need to be done while monitoring my gate. The most enjoyable part of my job is when I have downtime, and am able to catch up on other tasks. I also enjoy seeing new faces each day and meeting new people that come from all over the world to either deliver the cattle or distribute the meat.
