Job Summary: Provides health care services, under the supervision of the appropriate professional staff, that assist the resident in the achievement of physical and emotional comfort.
Job Requirements: Certified by the state as a Residential Health Care Facility Nursing Assistant. Successful completion of a nursing assistant course that meets federal/state requirements. certification required. Three months minimum experience in long term care preferred. Able to follow oral and written instructions, and compose short correspondence and notes. Able to present information in small group and one-on-one settings. Works in a team responsibly and independently without direct supervision. Records observations and activities. Good communication skills. Ability to complete basic math computations. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to and communicate with the geriatric population. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Able to assess data reflecting the resident’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each resident’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
