Jefferson County 911 summary
Public Safety Dispatcher (Current Employee), Kearneysville, WVJune 15, 2014
Pros: feeling of making a difference
Cons: co-workers, management, no room for advancement
There is never a normal day of work. There is so many things that can happen in a normal shift. There could be nothing going on or several calls for service. Management is weak and doesn't care about there workers. They only want to hear about anything from supervisors. The co-workers can be annoying and can cause issues among the employees. There are – more... several different "eras" of workers from new people who just started who want to change and there are older employees who just want to stay with the past and not express any move towards the future. – less

My typical day was always busy and interesting and the manager was wonderful. The co-workers was helpful and wonderful team players. There was no hard part of my job, only busy. I work as a 911 dispatcher (Current Employee), Brookville, PAJanuary 1, 2013
My typical work day consists of answering 911 calls and process them accordingly. I work to assist the fire departments, ambulance stations and police departments throughout the county on various incidents they may be on. I've learned a lot about the county and now have a better geographical knowledge of the county.

Substitute Teacher
Substitute Teacher and ECE/LBD teacher/instructor (Former Employee), Louisville, KYOctober 15, 2012
Pros: helping kids
Cons: no advancement
Being a substitute teacher isn't the easiest gig, but I enjoy the challenge. I specifically have a special education background, but it's disheartening when administration doesn't back the progress made by a kid.

If foster care is your niche this is a great place work. It is fast paced and highly stressful, however working with parents and children can make it all worth while.
