The mission of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City is to enrich our diverse community by cultivating an inclusive environment built upon Jewish values, heritage and culture. We offer programs of excellence that enhance wellness, meaning and joy from generation to generation.
Established in 1914, the JCC has grown into a respected community leader in child development and youth services, fitness and sports activities, social and educational events, cultural arts, theater, senior adult programming, and more. We inspire creativity, foster cooperation, and build community one precious person at a time.

The JCC offers 50 to 75 programs each day. The majority of them are delivered through:
Fitness and Sports -- A top-of-the-line wellness center featuring the latest fitness equipment, outdoor and indoor pools, youth and adult sports leagues, Saint Lukes-supervised brain fitness and wellness activities, lighted softball fields, a gym, racquetball and tennis courts, and more.
JCC Summer Camps -- One of the largest and most varied day camp programs in the area (450 children)
o Developmentally Disabled Services – the JCC is the only agency in KC that provides individual paras (trained assistants) free of charge to developmentally disabled children so they can be mainstreamed in the above programs (annual cost of over $100,000 annually)
The Child Development Center -- A nationally accredited preschool that nurtures, loves and educates 250 children and is recognized as one of the very best programs in Greater Kansas City
Youth Services – including after school care, sports leagues, and arts, dance and music classes
KC SuperStar – An American Idol-style competition that awards a $7,500 scholarship to the best high school singer in the Greater Kansas City; teens from 71 schools compete each year and the winner is chosen at the SuperStar Finals by the 1300-strong audience (KU Basketball Coach Bill Self was our Honoree at KC SuperStar 2012)
The Heritage Center -- A senior adult program providing door to door transportation, nutritious lunches, fitness programming, enrichment classes, holiday celebrations, field trips, and more (800 people).
The White Theater – a 500-seat venue that boasts the very best community theater in Greater Kansas City, hosts an outstanding Visiting Artists Series and produces an annual Jewish Film Festival (7,000 people)
Special Needs Program -- that provides individual assistance to children with developmental disabilities at no cost to families (the only such program in our area) and mainstreams them into our regular activities
The JCC is a cultural, educational and wellness center boasting a membership of 7,500 from all faiths and backgrounds. It is not a religious institution.
The JCC is gathering place that celebrates diversity, encourages pluralism, and fosters friendships between all people; 40% of our members come from all faiths and backgrounds; Jews comprise 60%
Over 70 percent of our members are families with children
90% of members live in Leawood, Prairie Village and Overland Park
The JCC is enjoying a string of over 62 month-over-month membership increases, and is well-positioned to grow 10% over the next three years
The JCC is non-profit dedicated to raising confident children, building strong families, and leveraging its resources to assist the underprivileged. The financial capacities of our members range from the very wealthy to those who receive assistance from state agencies and scholarships from the JCC.
The JCC is committed to removing financial barriers to membership, educational and camp services through a generous needs-based financial assistance program, funded by the JCC through grants, corporate partnerships and special events/fundraisers. – less
