The basic function of the Marketing Director is to coordinate all the marketing activities of Johnson Supply. The Marketing Director develops various marketing concepts, objectives, materials, advertisements, retention and loyalty programs, and other special events approved by the Officers of Johnson Supply. The Marketing Director provides guidance and coordinates implementation efforts of our products, services and communicates to our customers our initiatives. This position is also responsible for being the primary contact of public relations and media contacts, advertising and certain business development activities that promote the sales, our philosophy, dedication and general direction of our company. The marketing department provides information gathered from customers, vendors, trade organizations, and other entities to help company formulate product, program and value added services offered to our customer base.

This position reports directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing

Preferred: MBA in Marketing or Industrial Distribution
Preferred: 4-6 years Industrial Distribution Marketing experience
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Mathematical: Working understanding of subtraction, division and multiplication.
Analytical: Ability to keep up with a marketing budget.
Verbal: Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Speech: Must be comfortable presenting to an audience of 1 – 100+.
Software: Prefer 5 years working knowledge of Office products which include: Word, Intermediate Excel, Access, Outlook & Publisher. 2 years of PhotoShop, Graphic design or Artwork design experience. 2 years experience with a PDA.

Creates, maintains and updates Marketing Plan for the company that ensures the companies objectives of growth and market share gain.
Jointly responsible for the demand creation of the Johnson Supply portfolio among new and existing customers.
Responsible for communicating the company brand image, coordination of print & advertising legal boundaries.

Formulates, directs and coordinates marketing activities and policies to promote products and services for Johnson Supply.
Identifies, develops, and evaluate marketing strategies, based on knowledge of established objectives, market characteristics, and assists product managers with the cost and markup factors.
Directs the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of marketing and oversee their daily activities.
Evaluate the financial ROI of product promotions, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and profit-loss projections.
Assists in developing pricing strategies, realizing the need for proper balance between the company objectives and customer value perception.
Assists in developing and quantifying lists describing product or service offerings.
Utilizes deep understanding of cause and effect of promotions, product positioning, and market needs coupled with effective planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, lines, or services
Continual formal process of analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends – with trends regularly communicated to stakeholders in an effective and concise manner.
Coordinates and participates in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and product managers, to market products and services.
Consults with Regional Sales Managers, Regional Branch Managers, Product Managers and Purchasing to gain advice regarding the types of products or services expected to be in demand to support growth in the regions.
Conducts field surveys to identify potential markets for products and services.
Assists in selecting products and accessories to be displayed for promotions such as trade or special product shows – with particular attention to coordinating with selected theme or objective consistent with Johnson Supply’s brand image.
Coordinates coop negotiation and ensures effective utilization of funds and services in conjunction with vendors to promote product distribution. In addition, marketing director must be effective establishing relationships, networks and develop distribution strategies. As part of this process, metrics must be jointly developed, measured, and analyzed to quantify maximum utilization of funds.
Ensures our company adheres to all statues and legalities as it applies to copyright infringement or royalty sharing and etc. Marketing director will discuss with VP – Sales and Marketing any uncertainties or concerns about this responsibility.
Acts as a spokesman for the company as it applies to public relations within the trade.
Must know how to enhance our customers or dealers business by keeping informed with the latest business tools and information.
Must be able to assist in solving customer and dealer marketing problems by using the CSP and effective strategies developed from industry best practices and cumulative knowledge base of internally develop practices
Must know how to market our company based on the A&M Industrial Distribution sales process.
Must have a deep understanding of the letter, intent, and spirit of the marketing programs. Must clearly understand the vision of the company value propositions and align marketing programs accordingly.
Must conduct annual SWOT analysis on our competitors marketing programs, issuing a formal report to VP – Sales and Marketing. Report should be updated quarterly.
Must be able to develop and produce marketing pieces that result in high levels of interest in our products ultimately resulting in increase sales. The marketing pieces (and results) will also serve as guides for our purchasing personnel to make appropriate buying and stocking decisions.
Must provide Regional Sales Manager, Regional Branch Managers, Training Manager, Sales Department and Technical Service Manager marketing support.
Responsible for disseminating appropriate communication and correspondence from the company, vendors and employees to the customers and dealers by means of fax, email or telephone.
Must be able to develop appropriate communication to motivate dealers to participate in York training. This will be done by having a deep understanding of customer needs and wants through continual “in person” meetings with stakeholders, as well as systems in place to continually receive effective feedback from the trade.
Must be well informed of all company policies relating to dealers and customers and the manufacturer and keep our customers and dealers informed.
Must effectively administer the department expense reports and advertising budgets, purchase orders, vendor claims, invoices and dealer sales reports.
Must be an excellent communicator and provide solid presentations to employees, dealer groups and customers.
Responsible for planning and facilitating events which include: Trips, Dealer Meetings, Network functions and Open Houses.
Joint responsible for assisting operations managers with merchandising expertise in branch locations and to enhance company image.
Responsible for overseeing and evaluating media, and other methods to insure effective brand building in the market.
Responsible for overseeing literature, pricing books and other related materials for the company.
