This is a Forum where you can ask questions not only about possible jobs in the Middle East and Africa but also express yourself in regards to problems you have encountered, past and present, and want to share with others. Though this mainly focuses on Logcap we can cover any other contracting opportunities specializing in Iraq and Afghanistan. I would like to see discussions or questions on salaries, points of contacts, best recruiters to contact and tales from the spouses of our civilian workers supporting the OIF and OEF missions. If anyone has anything they would like to have covered, I will also provide my e-mail upon request for individual help in job placement. The first thing I believe people need to be aware of is the TCN issues and the recent CENTCOM directive in Afghanistan. It is directing companies to repatriate certain nationalities. Will this free up jobs for U.K, U.S? I don’t think so. How about the down trend on salaries OCONUS? It’s happening at an alarming rate. Base salaries (without uplifts or hazard) are going for 30-60k. This equals with the uplifts to about $75-85k. Big contract announced in Kuwait – K-BOSS. CSA is out and ITT is in, though your best bet with ITT is to work in Afghan. WPPS contract has many webs to it. It’s not just security but an array of jobs and possibilities

What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at KBR?
What do you like best about working at KBR? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

Just wondering if those of you who have prior experience applying with kbr have received either An acceptance Letter via email or regular mail. Or do you not hear from them period if you aren't accepted for a position? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Can someone please explain the sections on the WABI and how they are all supposed to "add up?"
I was sent home today from the DPC in Houston based on the the fact that I "failed" the WABI. First I was told by the first of two recruiters that contacted me that "there is no pass or fail, they are just looking to see if you are a risk taker." So I answered the questions HONESTLY and was told I failed based on the fact that my answers "didn't add up." The section I was told I failed was the driving portion. My answers didn't match the other areas that I "scored really good in." Can someone shed some sort of light on all of this crap?! I am beyond upset at this point after putting my life on hold then to be sent home 3 days into the processing. Oh, and to add insult injury, there was one candidate who told all of us taking the WABI in Houston as he sat across the table from me that he failed it prior to coming to Houston but was brought in to the DPC anyway. Another had taken the WABI 2 times (unknown time frame) before and was now being allowed to take it again in Houston. Another instance where someone failed it, he called his recruiter, who then called someone else, and everything was "okay" it was a "computer error." Then yesterday for the beginning of medical, another candidate showed up 15 minutes late to start and was still allowed to stay.
Is there a different standard for everyone that walks through those doors? Is it who you know and not what you know?
Thanks in advance for any sort of info anyone can shed on this situation. I used the search feature ad nauseum and couldn't find the answer I was looking for so therefore my posting now.

Is anyone currently working, or previously worked in Kuwait? I am thinking about applying for a position there.
Wondering about the living conditions, hours, pay, etc. The description says a Visa from the Kuwait government is required. Is this easy to get?
Any help is appreciated.
