Job Summary

Data Analyst to focus on testing Extract, Transformation, and Loading processes utilizing SQL.
Advanced skill with SQL query language is required as well as experience testing processes and maintaining required testing documentation and preparing and analyzing test results to aid in problem solving and facilitate decision-making.
The incumbent will provide supplemental Data Analyst support, potentially including data modeling, data discovery, data loading, and data extraction as needed.

Key Activities

Ensures integrity of data. Applies programming and statistical concepts to create test data and perform data validation. Codes automated data validation scripts and stored procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of data validation. Monitors data validation progress, identifies and resolves issues.
Develops test plans and scripts. Codes (primarily SQL) and tests ETL processes and maintains required testing documentation. Prepare and analyze test results to aid in problem solving and facilitate decision-making.
Capture defects and enhancements identified during the testing process, and track existing or potential issues along with a recommended course of action and/or options.
Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as unit, system, regression, load and acceptance testing methods.
Collaborate with the development and configuration management team for deployments into the test environments.

Utilizes data interpretation expertise to identify common attributes across data sources and perform data mapping. Reports on data characteristics and data quality, identifies problems and inconsistencies, and proposes and implements solutions.
Oversees ongoing utilization and execution of data loading processes. Collects, collates, organizes, and homogenizes data received from various sources to facilitate effective report development. Creates and/or utilizes programming code for record matching and data import preparation and/or revises code as needed. Ensures data is accurately loaded and resolves compatibility issues.
Creates complex data extraction queries for analysis; utilizes results to design and develop statistical analyses related to research inquiries; provides organized and formatted results.
Serves as subject matter expert on data sources, data extraction/coding, and data analysis techniques. Shares knowledge with peers and junior staff. Maintains knowledge of customer business processes and cross-functional relationships.
Monitors and maintains the quality and efficiency of database systems. Creates data audit processes to ensure consistent data maintenance procedures. Facilitates resolution of issues related to audits to ensure standards are communicated and maintained.
Establishes and enforces processes to ensure consistent, effective, and accurate databases and reports. Identifies, recommends, and implements areas of continuous improvement related to data collection, reporting and coding processes, and methodologies for data analyses. Provides input and assists database programmers and data architects with improving infrastructure.
Maintains inventory of existing queries and reports and implements enhancements as necessary.
Perform other tasks as assigned

Associate's degree specializing in computer science, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required; bachelor's degree specializing in computer science preferred.
Six years of experience in an Information Technology role related to data management in a large scale/complex environment, which includes two or more years of experience working directly with database reporting or programming.
Advanced skill in SQL database query language required.
Working knowledge of related database, business intelligence, ETL, and middleware technologies required.
Oracle experience is required. The department is transitioning to a primarily Oracle environment in early 2013.
