About Kaman Aerospace

Kaman Aerospace is best known for its Super Seasprite (SH-2G) and K-MAX Aerial Truck helicopters, but it does much more than make maritime and large transport helicopters. The subsidiary of Kaman Corporation includes Kaman Aerospace and K-MAX Corporation. Its aerospace offerings include electro-optic devices (light detection and ranging systems), fuzes – more... and safety systems (munitions safing and arming devices), aircraft components (wing structures, engine doors, and machined parts), rugged memory systems (disk and solid state), aerospace bearings (Kamatics), and non-contact position measuring systems (used to measure alignment, thickness, dimensions, pressure, and vibration).

Kaman Aerospace, part of Kaman Aerospace Group, comprises Brookhouse Holdings, Kamatics, Plastic Fabricating Company, and RWG Frankenjura. In late 2010 Kaman Aerospace Group acquired Global Aerosystems for approximately $20 million. Global Aerosystems provides engineering design analysis for a slate of blue chip customers, many of whom are also Kaman's, such as the Department of Defense and Boeing. Global Aerosystems also adds Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and Bombardier to Kaman's roster, which already includes Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Sikorsky Aircraft, and Airbus

Kaman Aerospace, along with Lockheed Martin, was awarded a contract by the US Marines in 2009 to develop unmanned cargo helicopter that can resupply troops with cargo airdropped by parachute. The Marine Corps began testing the aircraft in 2010. In 2008 Kaman Aerospace acquired Brookhouse Holdings, which makes composite aerostructures, aerospace tooling as well as offers repair and overhaul services. The purchase expanded the scope of Kaman Aerospace's portfolio, giving it access to an extensive network of manufacturers serving the military and commercial aerospace markets. – less
