What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Kaplan?
What do you like best about working at Kaplan? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

I am curious to hear from anybody who is currently, or previously with Kaplan as a business development manager for the Test Prep division.
Its my understanding that the pay is in the low 30's. Medical benefits? 401k?
Do you work from a home office, or do you report to a local office every morning?

This Kaplan word processor job posted on Monster is phony:

I complained about this to Monster and received the following reply:
"Monster has detected that the job postings on the Web site posted by these individuals are fraudulent and the activity of the 'company' is suspicious. As a result, all job postings were pulled from the Web site as soon as they were located and we have referred the matter to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
While Monster tries very hard to prevent fraudulent entities from posting on our Web site from time to time, false job postings are placed on our Web site that violate of the Monster Terms of Use. Monster employs a dedicated team to screen and remove postings that violate Monsters Terms of Use.
If you provided these individuals any of the additional information they requested from you (social security number credit information, driver's license number, etc.) we strongly recommend that you contact your local law enforcement authorities immediately as well as your creditors and financial institutions to warn them of possible unauthorized activity."

For those looking for advice on how to get a job with Kaplan SAT Prep, all I can say is - don't. You will be overworked and underpaid, and they really are quite deceptive about all that. You will do much better as a schoolteacher in a public school - about 4x better in fact.
Furthermore, they engaged in what I would call intimidation (constant reminders during training that we would lose our jobs if we didn't measure up).
Then, there were illegal work practices - while in principle you are paid for out of class time (at minimum wage, once you read the fine print), they insist that even at that pay rate, such hours be declared at no more than the in-class hours... however to do the job well, you *will* need to work more than the in-class hours. But when a colleague (with an M.S. in mathematics) asked about that, they were told in a stern voice that if they needed more time it was a problem that needed to be addressed with their supervisor in private so something could be done about it. This is precisely the behavior that Walmart employees filed a class action suit against Walmart for. Like Walmart, Kaplan is trying to squeeze the rank and file a little too hard, and stepping over the line.
Kaplan does a great job at marketing (in fact, that was at least half of the training, was how to be an effective marketer for Kaplan), but once the shine wears off, the realities there, at least in SAT prep, were just dismal.

Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Kaplan?
Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?
