Career Service Advisor (Former Employee) – Rockville, MD – May 18, 2017
Good supportive environment consisting of passionate people who are willing to go above and beyond job titles. Successful employees are those who understand adult learning methods, and non-traditional challenges/barriers.
Sometimes the mission is ever changing, usually for the better.
Technology/software isn't the most up to date, considering the method of education Kaplan provides to its student population.
Each campus is different, but the "campus" I worked at provided a decent workplace culture with potlucks, celebrations, and volunteer time. Pay is a bit lower than public universities, but great benefits and matched 401K.
It's Higher Education, so there many policy changes/changes in general and possibilities of workforce reduction.
I enjoyed working at Kaplan, but after a few years they stopped offering classes. After a couple of years teaching, you receive an increase in income, which is offset by the lack of courses offered. I believe they were bringing in new adjuncts and paying them at a lower rate, leaving the more experienced, higher paid adjuncts without classes to teach.
Independent Contractor (Former Employee) – Detroit, MI – October 9, 2017
The job itself was great....I love the stores...BUT this company doesn't not pay you on time and you don't get paid for drive time like other company do pay.....Would highly recommend not working for this company......It's a family owned business that is not understanding about anything. It takes days for them to reply back to you and the pay sucks and your in each store longer than 2 hours at a time because the racks are so messed up.
Academic Advisor (Current Employee) – Fort Lauderdale, FL – October 2, 2017
Answering questions for students over the phone and registering student for upcoming classes. Reviewing degree plans with student so they can see there upcoming class and reviewing transcripts with students
Financial Aid Manager (and other positions) (Former Employee) – Fort Lauderdale, FL – September 18, 2017
Kaplan was a good place to work. A typical day is activity -filled, but also allows time for fun. The various teams work together to support one another and provide the students with the best experience possible.
Semi-Flexible working hours (different starting times), on-site cafe, free parking, good benefits (healthcare), affordable education opportunities
Employee (Current Employee) – Fort Lauderdale, FL – September 14, 2017
Kaplan cares about its employees, as do the managers. After Irma, Kaplan and management really went the extra mile to help employees and their families in need (meal vouchers, supply donations...). Job involves a lot of variety and working with different departments. Very service-oriented and military-friendly. Advancement in some areas isn't great, but jobs come with great benefits, good PTO packages, and friendly coworkers.
Overall one of the best paying jobs with the best benefits i had while in undergrad. The culture is un-explainable if you've ever worked in a call center before. It's not impersonal . Your cubicle is your cubicle. You work with the same manager and staff every shift, you get email updates weekly and sooner if they are necessary. There are always new things to learn, but it never was too bad because it was always accompanied by formal training. The requesting off issue was my only thing but overall great job experience for anyone who can make it thru the interview process.
Faculty (Current Employee) – New York, NY – August 22, 2017
Working with students who wish to compete for top colleges is a teacher's dream. The classes are intense but the students are very focused and willing to work. It is very gratifying helping them improve their skills, build confidence and expand their horizons. The pay is not as high as public high school and college professors receive, but the flexibility is much better. It is an ideal part-time job.
Pick one's own schedule; great students, short-term obligations
Nursing Faculty (Current Employee) – Des Moines, IA – August 20, 2017
Working as an adjunct faculty is flexible, but changes every 10 weeks so no hours guaranteed. As a full time faculty, the schedule is rigorous and the pay is not commensurate with the amount of work that is required when working on a ground campus as well as teaching online. The most enjoyable part of this job was interacting with the nursing students.
ADMISSIONS COORDINATOR (Former Employee) – Las Vegas, NV – August 9, 2017
Kaplan was amazing at first, but then it quickly got ugly. The harder you work the more they throw at you while others do nothing. The pay and hours were great. The students were even better than the benefits, but the college did not always do right by them.
good pay and benefits
drama, favoritism, and work/life balance is non existent
