I was hired for the night shift with no possibility of working the day shift
Support & Solutions Representative (Former Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLNovember 17, 2017
The benefits were nice, the management seemed a little cliquish. If they didn't like you or you didn't run with the management gang you are on the outside.
Pros
Benifits
Cons
My manager was being propped up by superior subordinates around her.

Tutor (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILNovember 3, 2017
I worked here part time, so I don't have a lot of critique to add. It was pretty straight forward and pay is decent for a job on the side. Enjoyed it.

Stopped offering courses
Adjunct online faculty (Former Employee) –  onlineOctober 24, 2017
I enjoyed working at Kaplan, but after a few years they stopped offering classes. After a couple of years teaching, you receive an increase in income, which is offset by the lack of courses offered. I believe they were bringing in new adjuncts and paying them at a lower rate, leaving the more experienced, higher paid adjuncts without classes to teach.

SAT/ACT Teacher and Tutor (Former Employee) –  San Francisco Bay Area, CAOctober 20, 2017
Working at Kaplan is a good experience for aspiring teachers. It requires a lot of prep time and hours outside of the classroom contacting students and parents.

Worst company to work for
Independent Contractor (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIOctober 9, 2017
The job itself was great....I love the stores...BUT this company doesn't not pay you on time and you don't get paid for drive time like other company do pay.....Would highly recommend not working for this company......It's a family owned business that is not understanding about anything. It takes days for them to reply back to you and the pay sucks and your in each store longer than 2 hours at a time because the racks are so messed up.
Pros
Liked working for the stores
Cons
not paid even and long hours

High Stress, Arrogance, Low Support, Almost No Good Training
Admissions Advisor / Team Lead (Current Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLOctober 5, 2017
Nine years there, no job progression. Very cliquey, cut-throat, apolitical leadership. Does not use their resources. Slow to learn. Stubborn in adapting. Toxic.
Pros
Great pay and benefits
Cons
Poor leadership, toxic culture.

Good place to work.
Financial Aid Manager (and other positions) (Former Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLSeptember 18, 2017
Kaplan was a good place to work. A typical day is activity -filled, but also allows time for fun. The various teams work together to support one another and provide the students with the best experience possible.
Pros
Semi-Flexible working hours (different starting times), on-site cafe, free parking, good benefits (healthcare), affordable education opportunities
Cons
No significant cons

Great place to work
Employee (Current Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLSeptember 14, 2017
Kaplan cares about its employees, as do the managers. After Irma, Kaplan and management really went the extra mile to help employees and their families in need (meal vouchers, supply donations...). Job involves a lot of variety and working with different departments. Very service-oriented and military-friendly. Advancement in some areas isn't great, but jobs come with great benefits, good PTO packages, and friendly coworkers.

Best call center job
Student experience consultant (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLAugust 23, 2017
Overall one of the best paying jobs with the best benefits i had while in undergrad. The culture is un-explainable if you've ever worked in a call center before. It's not impersonal . Your cubicle is your cubicle. You work with the same manager and staff every shift, you get email updates weekly and sooner if they are necessary. There are always new things to learn, but it never was too bad because it was always accompanied by formal training. The requesting off issue was my only thing but overall great job experience for anyone who can make it thru the interview process.
Pros
great work envoriment, break freedom, benefits
Cons
scheduling

Great Students; a teacher's dream come true
Faculty (Current Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 22, 2017
Working with students who wish to compete for top colleges is a teacher's dream. The classes are intense but the students are very focused and willing to work. It is very gratifying helping them improve their skills, build confidence and expand their horizons. The pay is not as high as public high school and college professors receive, but the flexibility is much better. It is an ideal part-time job.
Pros
Pick one's own schedule; great students, short-term obligations
Cons
hourly pay rate is low

Flexible, heavy workload with online classes
Nursing Faculty (Current Employee) –  Des Moines, IAAugust 20, 2017
Working as an adjunct faculty is flexible, but changes every 10 weeks so no hours guaranteed. As a full time faculty, the schedule is rigorous and the pay is not commensurate with the amount of work that is required when working on a ground campus as well as teaching online. The most enjoyable part of this job was interacting with the nursing students.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
Work load and pay

Admissions Advisor / Enrollment Counselor (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZAugust 14, 2017
Nice enough place to work. Making cold calls was not easy but you get used to the rejections or it was not the place for you. It was generally trying to sell the benefits of your school to all others.

Welcome to Kaplan
ADMISSIONS COORDINATOR (Former Employee) –  Las Vegas, NVAugust 9, 2017
Kaplan was amazing at first, but then it quickly got ugly. The harder you work the more they throw at you while others do nothing. The pay and hours were great. The students were even better than the benefits, but the college did not always do right by them.
Pros
good pay and benefits
Cons
drama, favoritism, and work/life balance is non existent
