Kaplan prepared me with the skill to assist others better on things that they need
Admissions Representative (Former Employee), Fort Lauderdale, FLJuly 7, 2014
Being at Kaplan, I was able to help prepare others find what career fits well with their personality, how to get started, then working towards accomplishing their goal step by step. The best part about the position, which is also the most challenging part, is being able to work well with others which has taught me how to approach different personalities – more... with co-workers as well as potential students. – less

A decent place to work. Little room for growth, no career progression.
Director of Admissions - Graduate Admissions (Former Employee), Fort Lauderdale, FLJune 20, 2014
Pros: benefits and no tuition costs for employees
Cons: senior leadership, lack of organizational effectiveness, regular layoffs, low morale, lack of interdepartmental teamwork
The organization provided a competitive salary and free tuition to employees, which was a great benefit. There were several disconnects that caused poor employee morale due to regular layoffs. Organizational instability over the course of several years resulted in employee lack of trust/belief in senior leadership, the direction the company was headed, – more... and the products being delivered. From first-hand experience, the education provided to students was amazing and the faculty was top notch. I have no regrets having worked there and believe my efforts contributed to the greater good of the university. I wish them the best and hope internal issues are resolved to ensure the longevity of the organization. There is a lot of talent within the organization that is not being maximized to its full potential...unfortunate, but at the same time, promising! – less

Admissions Advisor (Former Employee), Chicago, ILJune 13, 2014
Pros: helping people better their lifes
Cons: working sixty plus hours per week
A typical day include enrolling potential students into the university as well as staying current with existing students.

I've learned a great deal about dealing with different people from different walks of life. All students were unique individuals with unique needs and expectations.

The managment team at K.U. was great, they've supported and guided – more... us every step of the way.

My co-workers were great people to work with, we were all different but we've all had a common goal to be the best possible advisors.

The hardest part of my job was to watch students drop out of school.

The most enjoyable part of my job was going to graduations and seeing my students achive and aceed their own goals. – less

A day of work consisted of administrative work that included answering phones, helping other students find jobs, copying, printing, and recreating resumes and cover letters. My co-workers were nice and professional. I learned a lot about clerical work and what its like to have a job in an office setting where I would have to type as well as work with – more... Microsoft Excel and Microsoft word. The hardest part of my job was combining my work and school schedule and my most enjoyable part was the joy of helping someone else. – less
