Let me start off by saying that I have been a legal secretary for over 20 years. I love and take pride in what I do and my work-product is excellent. I work hard and enjoy a busy day, but this place is ridiculous!
KDV does not provide a work/life balance the hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with no option for flexible hours. You will work from the time you walk in the door until 6:00 p.m., or later. You will not get to take a lunch until sometime after 3:00 p.m. No one will do or say anything to let you know you are appreciated. Excuse me, except for the Office Manager who is also overworked and stretched to the MAX.
They do not have the latest software, which takes you twice as long to get the job done. The office is in complete chaos so the staff is frustrated. This firm is cheap, cheap, cheap. Did I say cheap?
If you decide to take a position at this place, keep your resume updated (I did) and be prepared to start looking for something else because no matter what your work-ethic is or how much you give it will never be enough.
Most of the attorneys and staff left earlier this year, a bunch of attorneys from Mendes & Mount came on board (need I say more?). If you are in the legal profession I am sure you have heard of Mendes.
Honestly, I wish there was something positive I could tell you about this place, but I cannot think of one thing.
Oh, I almost forgot. They are looking for a hybrid legal secretary to sit at the reception desk while covering three or four attorneys. I am not saying there is anything wrong with being a receptionist, some of us started out in that position. What I am saying is, if you have been a legal secretary for any length of time, you are not going to devalue yourself by sitting at the receptionist desk.
