Direct Care Professional, Clarks Summit, PA - March 29, 2017
Typical day would be picking up residents from work coming home and starting dinner, getting everyone showered and fed, starting laundry and cleaning up after dinner. depending on the day they would either relax for the night or go out where ever they would like to go. What I've learned is putting others needs before your own more than I already do. this job wasn't just a paycheck to me, it was to make a difference it the residents lives. The hardest part about this job is the long hours due to short staffing and being away from my family and people calling off and you have no choice but to stay and cover the shift. sometimes I would miss holidays with my children as well. the most enjoyable part was to see the improvement and impact you have on the residents. the bond with them and co workers you work very well with made the job enjoyable.
