KHEIR (pronounced ‘care’) Center’s mission is to increase and provide access to culturally and linguistically appropriate quality health care and human services to the underserved and uninsured residents of Southern California. KHEIR Center operates a community clinic, a Human Services Department and an Adult Day Health Center (ADHC). The KHEIR-S. Mark Taper Foundation Community Clinic is dedicated to ensuring availability and accessibility of essential primary and preventive health care services and related “enabling” services to low-income, medically under-served and vulnerable populations. Core programs focus on primary and behavioral care for adults and children; early cancer detection; family planning; and outreach aimed at providing comprehensive linguistically-accurate preventative education, health screenings, immunizations and increased access to State and local health insurance programs.
Across all services in 2012, KHEIR Center served nearly 20,000 low-income, limited-English proficient Koreans, Latinos and other underserved individuals. Our patients are those who are likely to be unemployed or to work in occupations with limited access to health care. KHEIR's philosophy is based on the idea that the health care system cannot be successful if it is not accessible. – less
