The relationship between the children and their families had a strong connection and great communication.
Teacher (Former Employee), El Dorado Hills, CA – June 13, 2013
Pros: working with each child and learning their personalities and watching them learn new things.
Cons: too many shuffling of the children to maintain teacher to child ratio.
A typical day at work consist of helping children transition from each activity and daily routines. Communicate clear information with the parents and other teachers. Provide children with the needs and services they require.

During my time in this position I learned that it is important to call parents immediately after an incident occurs all the – more... while an incident report is filed.

The management team was great. They had great sense of humor and provided excellent communication and relationships with each family that entered the center.

My co-workers were nice to work with. I specifically enjoyed both the co-teachers that I have had the privilege of working with.

The hardest part of this job was informing a parents of their child's accidents. No matter how little the accident it, is was quite difficult to explain how and why this happened.

The most enjoyable part of this job was working with the children. The children definitely bring joy to my heart. I am so passionate about children and I hope to make a difference in them and in the family members. – less

10:1 ratio's just aren't for me
Preschool Teacher (Current Employee), Silverdale, WA – June 11, 2013
Pros: encouraged to eat with children, leading to free meals, and being a positive role model in young children's lives.
Cons: not always able to get the help that you would like when the classroom gets a little out of control.
While being offered as much support as possible, I was in charge of leading up to 10 children on my own, to teach skills that are necessary in the development of preschool age children. Handling that many children at once was just too much for me though.

Teacher's Assistant (Former Employee), Virginia Beach, VA – June 7, 2013
Pros: watching the children grow
Cons: pay
A typical day at work was working with the children helping them grow and learn. I learned that every child is different and you have to have patience to do the job. My co- workers were nice and fun to work with. I hardest part of the job was working very hard and my pay not reflecting that hardwork. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with – more... my babies and creating a connection and bond with them. – less

Lead Teacher (Former Employee), Overland Park, KS – June 6, 2013
Pros: childcare discounts for teachers/good insurance for the most part
Cons: managment was hard to get along with
It takes alot of patience to work in childcare you have the parents that drop there children off in your care for them to be taken care of..threw the day..this is there home away from home, Sometimes it was hard to talk to management about anything I used to work there

Fun Place

A place where children learn social skills as well as basic tools to help them in the future. They place down the foundation for learning.

Loved interacting with the children, parents and staff
Center Director (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO – June 5, 2013
Pros: working with a great staff, and feeling very proud of my center and staff
Cons: corporate changes after 21 years with the company
I felt very proud of my accomplishments I have made within the 21 years I worked for the company. I did not have a high turn over rate
with my teachers, parents valued this when enrolling. My staff worked for me 10 years-15 years.

The most enjoyable part of my job was making sure my parents, staff and children were happy. I am a team player and was – more... in charge
of maintaining NECPA and NAEYC standards. – less

lack of productions and very wish-washy through the builders
Teacher/Teacher Aide (Former Employee), Greenwood, IN – June 4, 2013
Pros: was able to take my child to work with me and have care for her.
Cons: short breaks, lack of communication and scheduling
when arriving not sure where i was going to be, Lack of communication among the teachers n directors. what i learned was the value of my children education and needs. My coworkers did not all have the same goals and focus on the job so there was a lot of misunderstood and others left out in the dark. did not have a good experience with this company.

Pros: children's love, nice breaks, flexibility
Cons: people being nosey
I love being around kids and love taking care of them. KinderCare Learning Center is awesome. I actually went there when I was a child and to be working there was awesome. I basically grew up there and I can tell you that it is a nice environment to be in.

Good expierience but not good for a long term career
Teacher (Current Employee), Noblesville, IN – May 24, 2013
Pros: love working with the children and the families are great
Cons: no pay raises, starting pay scale increases over time, but people who have been there for years are stuck at the old pay rate
There is a lot of favoritism toward the friends of management. All staff is not held to the same standard. There is a lot of gossip and talking behind each others back by teachers and management.

Love the children.. not the staff.
Teacher/floater (Former Employee), Atlanta, Georgia – May 16, 2013
Pros: the children! i enjoyed the experience of bonding with, and working with them.
Cons: bad directors, no bathroom breaks, inconsistent hours, low pay, no benefits, no support/over ratio.
Never adequately staffed.
Lots of superfluous paperwork to fill out daily.
Fake lesson plans and not enough room or time to be creative with implementing a consistent lesson plan.
Backstabbing directors and co-workers.
Not enough supplies.
No relief for bathroom breaks (directors disappearing or pretending to be busy so they won't have to cover the – more... classroom for you while you "pay your water bill").
Constant shuffling of children with dirty diapers from classroom to classroom (they wouldn't even send the child's diaper over, forcing you to take from another child's diaper stash).
Constantly over ratio.
Fake "soft spoken" directors who were vindictive towards staff that questioned their sincerity.
Lying during parent tours.
Low pay
Inconsistent hours/last minute "11th hour" calls to come and fill in for someone.
Not enough time to clean classroom or wash blankets.

DO NOT APPLY. RUN FAR AWAY... AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.
I wouldn't even recommend sending your children there.

It's just one big baby sitters club.

The only saving grace is the memories I have working with the children... seeing them laugh and smile, watching their curiosity peak and their moments of contentment. – less

Fun work environment
Childcare Provider (Current Employee), Chambersburg, PA – May 1, 2013
Most days at KinderCare are fun and enjoyable. I was blessed with positive and encouraging co-workers, who genuinely care about each other as people, not just as colleagues. The management is easy to work with; my director can balance leading and listening very well, and always tries her hardest to get us the materials we need to do our jobs.

CENTER DIRECTOR (Former Employee), Bristol, PA – April 29, 2013
The bonuses for the Directors and benefits were good. There could be more support for Directors and employees from the management level. Seemed to always take the parents side.

Fun and exciting place to work.
Preschool Teacher (Current Employee), Tualatin, OR – April 28, 2013
Pros: i get to bring out my inner kid at times.
Cons: they do not guarantee forty hours.
There is no such thing as a typical day at Kindercare, but that is all part of the fun. It's a very exciting place to work for, knowing that everday you walk into your classroom there is 16-20 children waiting to learn. I have learned a lot in my time at Kindercare one thing in particular is multi tasking and staying on track. I work closely with a – more... co-teacher in the preschool room and have about 14 other co-workers, we all stick together as a team and help where it's needed. I' am faced with new challenges everyday which can be hard at times but I also feel it has built me into being a stronger worker and person. The best part of my job is watching the kids learn and grow and knowing I took a part in that. – less
