Phlebotomist, Ellensburg, WA - April 22, 2014
I am currently an acting receptionist and full time phlebotomist. a typical day at work consists of greeting patients as they come to the window, looking up patient orders for tests to be performed, answering multi-line phones, monitoring faxes, running to different departments of the hospital for floor draws, aloquoting and processing samples to be put on the machine, instructing patients on sample collection and maintaing and even workflow throughout the day. I have learned how to multi task efficiently and maintain a level head under stressful circumstances. I am able to work as a team player with an open line of communication to best meet patients need and provide excellent patient care. The hardest part of my job would be balancing my many duties while also constantly stiving to take on more resposibility and learn more about the scope of practice our laboratory provides in conjunction with our reference labs and staying up on the frequent changes. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to help people on a daily basis with their healthcare needs and giving them peace of mind by thoroughly explaining the procedure of blood draws and being able to answer any and all questions they may have. I also enjoy the constant change of my daily activities, every day is a new experience working in healthcare.
