Working at Kmart

  • the truth shall set u free 2 days ago
IM A FORMER LOSS PREVENTION MANAGER FOR THIS COMPANY AND LET ME TELL YOU THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE. SOME STORES HAVE NO CAMERAS AND SOME HAVE SHITTY ONES. YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO HANDCUFF SHOPLIFTERS BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN YOU DO. YOUR PAPERWORK WORK LOAD IS WAY OVER THE LIMIT AND ITS ATLEAST 12 OR 13 HOURS A DAY YOUR WORKING. YOU REPORT TO THE STORE COACH WHO MAKES YOU DO NON LOSS PREVENTION WORK AND YOU HAVE A LP DISTRICT COACH WHO DOESNT SUPPORT YOU AND JUST SAYS GET ERR DONE. THERE IS NO PROPER STRUCTURED TRAINING SO MOST NEWBEES HAVE NO CLUE WHATS GOING ON AND WHEN THEY FAIL THEY TRY TO BLAME THE TRAINING LP MANAGER WHO HAS ENOUGH STUFF TO WORRY ABOUT. SAFETY SEEMS TO BE NUMBER ONE OVER MOST OTHER THINGS. INTERNALS SHOULD BE A PRIORITY BUT THEIR REALLY NOT. OUT OF DATES ARE MORE OF A PRIORITY THAN SOME YOUNG CASHIER CLEANING OUT THE REGISTER. YOU HAVE YOUR OWN STORE BUT YOUR NEVER WORKING IN IT. THE SALARY ISNT WORTH THE HEADACHE AND STRESS THIS DEAD SMELLY STORE CREATES.

Fairly new at K. Was scheduled to work 1-9. Was told the policy was 2 15 min breaks and an hour lunch. Was stuck in electronics for the first 4.5 hours and no one ever approached me about taking my break. Couldn't even go to the bathroom. Wasn't too worried about it as I had heard from others that you could take both breaks during the second part of your shift. That was OK with me. Went to lunch, came back, switched to cashier to find that the TERRIBLE service desk worker was there. Trying to be nice I informed them that I did not take my first break so I would have to take 2 in the second "half" of my shift. She basically yelled at me and said that I could not take the break. It was my responsibility to make sure I took my breaks. (Had NEVER heard that before.) After asking her why she was yelling at me (to which she replied that she wasn't) she said that she would have the manager on duty come tell me what was what. He did and denied me the taking of my first 15 minute break. And not nicely either. My question: How can I contact corporate to complain about this? I was never told that my break was my responsibility, as it had always been assigned. Their lack of training proficiency and common courtesy really caused a bad feeling in me. I would think that they would have at least let me take the break this time, but in the future no. Any questions or comments are welcome. Thanks.

Does anyone know what K Marts' LP policies are about stopping people once they get outside? I mean, if they have a runner, what does the store tell the employee do? What about detention? Is every store different or do they have a set policy nation wide? Thanks in advance...

Do you work at Kmart? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in?

Hi everyone, I am going to get an interview tomorow and I would like to know if they going to ask question "why do i want to work here?" "why should they hire you?" "what make you interested in working for this company?". I am applying for cashier position and I could probably say that this position doesn't need to be selective and asking formal questions as a financial advisor position. If anyone that have experience about the hiring process and got hired for this company and position. Please give me some advice and how to ace it. Thanks

I went through the online application and was not offered an interview at the end. It seems like from reading on here that if you pass the "test" that you are offered an interview. Should I reapply to try to pass?

Kmart has found a way to bring back slaves. The hours are long. The pay is good, if you only worked your 48 hour week that are required for Kmart management. However, 60 to 90 hrs is more like it. The eastern district is expecially horrible in KY, VA, and TN. The district manager says one thing that sounds good and "means" another. Don't do it if you want to stay healty and or keep your family, because the hard work and strains are not worth the gains. There are none with this company.

I check the job listings daily. When I saw an ad for my local kmart I went in that day. I was told there are no openings. The same happend to my wife a few months earlier, but we thought the job had been filled since it was a few days after the ad. Neither one of us even got to fill out an app. Don't know what type of scam they are running.

I applied to K-Mart back in November, but it said that they were going with different people. So I got an e-mail saying that my name had expired from the database, but the website still won`t let me apply again. How long do I have to wait before I`m eligible again?
