Poor Management
Manager (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZNovember 12, 2017
Knight Transportation was a good company when it was owned by the Knight brothers, however, once they left and the management was turned over, there was little to no governance of any kind. People were left to do what they wanted. There was either too much supervision or none at all. Some departments were left with managers who behaved like children and did not think twice about harassment and abuse, while others treated employee's properly.

There was no in between. You were either used and worked without any supervision or guidance and left with those who did not work at all, or you have supervision of the worst kind where the managers wanted production and offered no help whatsoever.

The company was better off when the Knight brothers were still involved.

Market Planner (Current Employee) –  Phoenix, AZNovember 11, 2017
Job environment is very high paced and can be high stress. However, it is a great place to get experience in the logistics field and offers many options for vertical growth inside of the company

OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZNovember 9, 2017
As with most trucking companies this job is what make of it. The more you run, the more you earn. Never had a problem requesting home time, typically stayed out two to three weeks and got 3 to four days off

Knight Transportation is a good place to further your driving career. Lots of different kinds of loads to be hauled. I have asked to be rehired by Knight and they want me back. I would go back to driving for Knight in a heartbeat
Pros

PROFESSIONAL DRIVER, OWNER OPRATOR, DEDICATED (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZ 85027October 30, 2017
As long as a driver is willing to work hard, and accept every load, Knight will run you hard. Be available for every load and negotiate loads with you DM. Do not be shy in this company, or you will not make it.
Pros
good runs and management work with your demands
Cons
lower mileage pay than industyr standards

Wow can't even think straight
Former otr driver (Former Employee) –  El Paso, TXOctober 27, 2017
Everything is driver manager driven. If you get a decent dm you're set, but there's only two decent ones. Seems to be two separate terminals in the terminal, regular knight and tri color. Terminal manager contradicts himself when asked about the separation and how to switch from one to the other. Horrible response times when in need of answers. Many times waited hours for a simple yes or no to a basic request or question. Knight corporate definitely needs to take a closer look at the terminal staff.
Vets stay away.

Truck Driver Class A (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAOctober 25, 2017
Low pay, dispatchers that are hard to reach, and management that just do not care about you. Their Electronic log devices (Zonar) are terrible and are always crashing and in need of some refresh or update from the tech department.
Pros
Easy to get a job with
Cons
Youll want to leave as fast you came in

Worst job ever
Driver Manager/Dispatcher (Former Employee) –  El Paso, TXOctober 20, 2017
This has been the worst place I have ever worked at. Working 60+ hours per week under a low salary. I had no life and I would always get home in a bad mood. I would work Monday through Friday from 630AM to 630PM. In addition, working 8 hour shifts on Saturdays. Last but not least, you will be required to work Sundays once a month. No wonder why there turnover rate is so high.

Cons
Salary, hours

CDL Class A Driver (Current Employee) –  Tulsa, OKOctober 19, 2017
Knight Transportation is another trucking company and just looks at loads moved and done right. I was based out of the Tulsa Terminal and was treated okay but the staff took days to help address safety issues with the truck I operated or other peoples negligence because it did not affect the office staff.

Great starter company for new drivers.
Driver (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZOctober 14, 2017
Great starter company, excellent equipment, most employees are easy to work with. If you are willing to drive, there are plenty of miles available. If you refuse to go to certain states or cities you might find you won't get as many miles. If you do your job and stay safe you'll get the miles and the money you deserve.
Pros
Equipment
Cons
Getting time off for personal reasons.

OTR Company Driver (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZOctober 11, 2017
Knight is based out of Phoenix Az., one of my favorite cities to visit. I frequent California sometimes to. The 3 best places to get loads is N.C., Laredo TX., or Los Angeles cause they get you miles.
Pros
Miles were good
Cons
To many terminals working.

Truck Driver (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZOctober 3, 2017
the job was good most of the times but management and driver management did not care much about the drivers and didn't treat them on a level field they had their favorites and the others could wait for all they care

Things changed since the company added dash cams that are connected to the company by cellular signal.
Driver (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZSeptember 30, 2017
Definitely a new experience as a long haul / local driver. Things changed working for this company ever since they added dash cams that tell on the driver for things like braking, following distance, lane changing, turning speed. If you look into these types of dash cams that they use called (smart drive) these fully always connected type of dash cams are mostly used in buses.
Pros
Dash cam if you get into an accident, Good pay, opportunity to get weekends off
Cons
Dash cam that tells on drivers

Not for the faint of heart
Driver Development Manager (Current Employee) –  Phoenix, AZSeptember 28, 2017
This is a tough industry from the get go. Not for the faint of heart. Not for someone not willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Not for someone unable to take criticism, both constructive and other. Management a bit detached from the reality of the ground floor. Be ready to work long hours and late nights. non stop problem solving, fast paced, 100 plus calls daily (if you're doing it right). Buckle up
