Fun Workplace
Teachers Assistant (Former Employee), Waldorf, MD –
Typical day at work was working with children and helping them develop / advance in life. I have learned to become patient. Management was fair. My co workers were the best I have had so far! The hardest part of the job is getting attached to the children in the center to only see them leave. The most enjoyable is knowing that you influenced the children – more...  and seeing them everyday. – less

Poor company to work for, enroll children into
Director (Former Employee), Northern Illinois –
Pros: easy to transfer across the u.s.
Cons: high employee turnover, low paid employees w/no or low raises, poor national reviews, poor environment for children.
The company isnt rated very well nationally. It is constantly changing its affiliates, and the rules of operation. Employees are terminated if they pose a threat to the compnay in regards to:being asked to lie about programs being run when they arent to gain revenue, not following company policy because the state licensing policies interfere with it, – more...  and voicing a concern that the classrooms are over ratios of teacher to children just to make the budget. This company highly encourages its employees to move children to other classrooms every day/all day but asks you not to tell the families. The children do not get the education that it preaches because of constantly moving children. And has a no tolerance policy for some employees but not upper managment. It is very much is a do as I say not as I do environment. Most recruiters know this company isnt run well at all and voice their opinions about it. If you are fortunate to find a warm and loving environment, it will end shortly, and because of their practices a lot of centers are closing down. It is hard to get a job after working with this corporation, it has a very bad reputation. It also has lawsuits against them consistently because of all of the laws they break. Please think twice about getting a job with this company, it is not worth the problems you will endure. Just take a moment and look at the consumer reviews, the same problems are documenmented coast to coast. – less

Stay Away!
Assistant Director (Current Employee), California –
Pros: child care discounts for employees
Cons: low job security and breeds culture of mistrust
KLC as a whole does not value its employees both in the classroom and management positions. There is very little consistency and the upper management is in constant realignment. There is very little to no consideration for responsibilities outside of work and management have no respect for life to work balance. The KLC culture breeds mistrust and many – more...  of the employees are so concerned with their own job security (or lack thereof) that they are borderline paranoid. – less

Horrible company to work for or put your child at.
Center Director (Former Employee), Vernon Hills, Illinois –
Pros: usually receives unemployment when terminated
Cons: no increases, poor training, poor management, poor compensation, negative work environments from coast to coast, deceptive managers and district managers, poor security job and other, creates a very stressful environment ot work in, will encourage employees to break state laws
The company does not like retention. Does not like to follow state regulations and rules. Once an employee familiarizes themselves with state licensing regulations, and tries to follow them, the company will fire each and every employee that shows knowledge of the minimum requirements to keep children safe.. Most employees will average 1 year or less – more...  in the corporation. The corporation will termination employees at anytime for no reason at all. The company keeps loosing files of employees or pieces of employees files. Also looses many pieces of childrens files. Has released children to people that are not authorized pick ups. WIll not make enough food for childrent o eat, and charges families for care and education they are not getting. Makes families enroll their child into enrichment programs and pay extra costs for what is required to be in the state mandated curriculum. Nickel and diming every parent. And pays teachers near minimum wage only. Wont give yearly increses, keeps CEO;s on staff before making sure the centers are in good standing with licensing. When the company was facing financial hardships, the educatkion department was the first department eliminated from the company. NEver practices what it preaches. They are in business to make money, do not care about the children or employees – less
