KNS Communications is a smaller company that deals with Wireless Networking in open pit mining as well as local 2 Way radio. The company underpays its employees and expects a great deal. Expectations and job titles are not defined, because of this, employees are held to standards that are not defined until after the standard has not been met. The employee moral is very low. The company is very secretive about profits and budgets. The company consistently promises project/ quarterly bonuses and then doesn't deliver or gives a lesser bonus with "being over budget" as the reason, without actually letting the project manager know what his budget is.
Because of the wide range of services KNS provides and the limited staff to support these services, employees often find themselves going to a customer to provide a service for the first time. Improvisation is commonly used to complete a service. With the lack of standard operating procedures, a 4 hour job turns into an 8 hour job on a regular basis. Employees constantly learn on the customers dime because they were sent to a job without being properly trained.
For many years KNS Communications has been known to be a company that trains people, who eventually find work with other companies. The turn over rate is very high at a little more than %40 in the last 20 months. Because of the high employee turn over rate, job security is very high. Because it is a small company, most employees have the opportunity to learn a wide range of skill sets, that traditionally are hard to come by with, another, perhaps larger company.
